How did the entire Midwest beat D.C.???
It's weird but a lot of folks I know from Jersey would never go back. Seems like they just didn't enjoy growing up there. I always thought NJ was a decent place.New Jersey is actually a nice state. A few decent beaches and good land to live on. Weird that it’s so low on the list.
Pennsylvania should not be higher than Michigan.

I just like/liked the boardwalks & beaches(that I wish people didn't litter on), its closeness to NYC, trying to find new places to eat and that you can get most places by bus, train or light rail(I'll save my complaints for lateness & last minute cancellations for another time)It's weird but a lot of folks I know from Jersey would never go back. NJ may be a nice place to raise a family if you have a high income and are at that stage in your life.
Aside from that, many people are realizing the only good thing about NJ is that it's NYC and Philadelphia-adjacent (if you're going to live in that part of the country, you might as well live IN these actual cities versus a far flung bedroom community) and not worth the high COL.
