I'm not surprised Hawaii is first. I'm surprised DC is dead last and Jersey isn't far behind.

How did the entire Midwest beat D.C.???

Not to mention the Dakotas and all of Appalachia in her opioid-addicted glory

DC being "state" enough to be represented in janky polls but not enough to be in Congress is totally uncalled for :sad

They must have given this to New Jerseyans who left(and are never coming back). How the hell is it way lower than a state like Wyoming? That's gotta be the least talked about state

New Jersey is actually a nice state. A few decent beaches and good land to live on. Weird that it’s so low on the list.

It's weird but a lot of folks I know from Jersey would never go back. Seems like they just didn't enjoy growing up there. I always thought NJ was a decent place.

Pennsylvania should not be higher than Michigan.

Why do you say that?

Pennsylvania has the better university, the better big city, the better mall, the Appalachian mountains (I.E. Poconos), lower car insurance, is not right-to-work, the better grocery store, etc.

NJ may be a nice place to raise a family if you have a high income and are at that stage in your life.

Aside from that, many people are realizing the only good thing about NJ is that it's NYC and Philadelphia-adjacent (if you're going to live in that part of the country, you might as well live *IN* these actual cities versus a far flung bedroom community) and not worth the high COL.

I just like/liked the boardwalks & beaches(that I wish people didn't litter on), its closeness to NYC, trying to find new places to eat and that you can get most places by bus, train or light rail(I'll save my complaints for lateness & last minute cancellations for another time)

Exactly NJ, is nice for living but the taxes are taking people out of that state. You are paying taxes just because you live in between NYC and Philly.

I think it's the whole Federal Government thing that's sinking DC at the bottom end of the list....also states like Alabama, Mississippi have a Racism stereotype that's Nationally recognized lol

Alot of these States are carried by their major cities, some are not even that known to have negative opinions.
