I just hear it in spaces.
I heard of this around 2020, during the pandemic. Some YT named Lashid4U addressed it, and went deep into the history of this...

She light complexioned and has an extremely high percentage of African ancestry.

It's amazing how a lot of us all have the same groups mainly. African, European, Native American, then a little East Asian. I love it, we are our own lil group.

It's not that wild if, for example, your African ancestors were very dark and/or your non- black includes olive complexioned people. I see 50/50 kids in Europe all the time and the half Senegalese, Kenyan, or South Sudanese ones often look similar to what we see as the typical AA.

I'm so confused as to why people focus on skin tone. To me, in general, facial features, skin density and/or hair type are way more telling.
Yeah me as well. I look at bone structure, hair type, skin color as well. It's the combination typically.

She has a degree in anthropology and understands how to dissect physical attributes. She explains that more is factored in, when one speaks of admixture. Not just lighter complex. It could but doesn’t have to be, as west Africans on the continent itself can have lighter skin complexions as well.
