Oooh, I love to start mess, so what year/years would y’all consider the cutoff for classic rock to be? I’m thinking ‘81 or ‘82, but I’m open to debate.

Tell me now, baby, is he good to you?Hey lil girl is your daddy home, did he go out and leave you all alone..I gotta strange desire, whoa oh oh I'm on fire.. omg, I was in 8th grade...smh, as kids, you dont even realize what you're singing lol
Is the cut off mid 80s?
Very...I'm not certain but that sounds about right.
Media Experts have used plenty of methods to nail down exactly “what” constitutes Classic Rock, including the years and the artists. But we’ve sussed it down to one simple component: The 8-Track Tape.www.culturesonar.com
The 8-track release cutoff theory is interesting.
I’m with you. I really don’t see Def Leppard and the like as classic rock. 80’s rock is something else entirely to me (not necessarily bad though—just different). I’d agree on Journey though. They snuck a more 70’s, classic rock sound into the 80’s.I wonder about that too. In my collection I kinda separate Classic Rock from popular 80s Rock (Van Halen, Def Leppard etc) More recently, I've seen them categorized as classic rock. IDK.
Journey kind of straddles both, imo.
amazing song choicesI love classic rock.
ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man & Legs
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here & Comfortably Numb
Ted Nugent (Can't freaking stand hm) - Stranglehold
The Rolling Stones - Start Me Up
Otis Redding - All Songs (Remember he sang Satisfaction before the Stones)
Lynrd Skynrd - Simple Man & Free As a Bird
Bad Company - Feel Like Making Love
Billy Squier- The Stroke
Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe & All Along the Watchtower
