Hello there!

So right before the pandemic hit, I signed with a local commercial modeling agency. Progression with my agency has been fairly slow due to the pandemic; they close their office every time there is a governmental-sanctioned lockdown so I haven't been able to get a chance to go for a job casting. The other day, I was researching modeling and stumbled upon modelmanagement.com... they advertise themselves as a platform for models and photographers/creative directors/casting directors to connect for jobs. So think of the site as the Expedia for the modeling world. On the site, the real perks are available once you're a premium member (unlimited castings!!!) for an annual fee of $100 (charged at once). I'm really passionate about this career route and would love to gain work as I genuinely enjoy the process behind a commercial photoshoot and I'm tired of depending on my agency to get me jobs; I want to take control of my career. I have 0 experience but have always loved taking pictures and I've had the pleasure of working with 2 prominent photographers in my city (before pandemic era)...that's how I stumbled into commercial modeling.

My question is for those who are active modelmangement.com PREMIUM members: What has been your experience? Did you receive work? Is it a better route than having a conventional agency? Moreover, if there are any commercial models here, any advice/tips for me?

Please share anything that you know/have experienced with this platform and/or industry. Thanks.

Read through the reviews that aren't just 5 stars and saying the site is "great!!!", some people haven't had good experiences.

Anything that asks for money up front simply to apply for jobs sounds off to me.

I would be very skeptical of this. Why pay for this? Shouldn’t they get their cut AFTER you book a gig?

No reputable agency will ask you for money, they get paid when you get paid.

No model is on this.
If you have what it takes to model, submit your pictures to legitimate agencies.
Everyone thinks that they can be a model ....

Okay thanks everyone for your input. I guess I’ll just wait on my agency. There seems to be a lot of modelling scams (so sad!).
