A toned down Bronde(brown blonde) look is better.

Something like this with just the right pop of blonde color

Platinum looks horrible on everyone on page 1 of this thread.

Blonde did not flatter Rihanna. Blonde highlights on brown hair did but overall blonde didn't.

No honey I’m the standard

The best to do it!!

You WISH you looked as good as me
I would never ever brag about being the standard "hood" trying your best to "look" white with those rachett blonde and platinum wigs and weaves which is embarrassing!

How old are you!?? No real woman on this planet that is worth their own salt would never ever cape to something so horrendous!!

Crypt Keeper worthy is NOT standard!!!

The type of blonde matters. Even some "ethnic" white people, look off with that "California" bottle blonde color. A darker blonde, or light ombre looks good on way more people.

I think black women have every right to wear their hair any way they’d like and people have the right to think that it doesn’t compliment them well.

There’s a difference between the one tone brassy yellow blonde (on silky straight weave mind you) on a person with deep skin with red/blue undertone and how Ciara and Mary’s blonde looks. There’s dimension from ombré, highlightes, low lights and no brassiness.

It’s the same way banana powder looks ridiculous on women with deep dark skin with reddish undertones. Funny enough, I’ve obseversed that these same women use banana powder, lol.
Yes, MaryJ's blonde looks have always been well done. Many people either aren't going to professional hair stylists, or don't get the subtle visual nuances.

You can wear your hair however you want, that doesn't mean people have to agree that it's a good look.

Funny considering the hair colors these women are sporting is not of their culture, anymore then dreads are of whites. But you're entitled to your opinion.

None of these ladies look good this way. And still some of us get mad at non black women for doing things that are considered a black thing. Very hypocritical and it is stuff like this why we are not taken seriously when we scream cultural appropriation. Stupid term btw!

Ok I agree not all of these looks are great but a lot of these pics are pretty. Especially the ones with more toned down blondes. And let’s not pretend the average black woman is rocking a platinum blonde wig. Ive never seen that in person and I live in a black area. Also how does hair color relate to culture?

I wouldn't do it but some of these ladies did pull it off. :) I would pick a darker color for highlights for me or a purple/ maroon or dark brown with lighter highlights but I'm not hating on these ladies. Do you as long as you have a healthy outlook on it and you are changing your color because you like variety. :)

Some of you are just dense to put it lightly...

Dyeing your hair blonde is not cultural appropriation. It is not the same thing as a White woman wearing dreads.

What culture does blonde hair belong to German, French, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Russian? It's a hair color with no cultural significance.

And to add, how about Aboriginals with dark skin in Australia with natural blonde hair and blue eyes etc? Of africans.? It does occur. As long as black people are not doing it because they believe blonde hair is better from some low self esteem issue, you are right. Theirs a big difference in changing up to different colors because you want to try different things vs, I have bad hair and I only feel pretty if my hair is solely like white women.

I personally don't like blonde hair on me or Black women in general. I think some people wear it well, others not so much.

But people should really do/wear what works for them. Other people's opinions, mine included, be dang.

Yes it does.

It belongs to Europeans regardless of culture. Unless you can name an African culture with blonde hair? By that logic which exact African culture does dreads belong to? You won't see a lot of men with dreads in Africa.

They’ll name one, one just said with the Austrians. How ever it’s rare to find blacks day to day with this, without alternativing it.

I don’t like bleach blonde on us normally, but some can really pull it off.

Caramel blonde is so pretty on all shades of brown skin. Shoot, I just touched up my highlights and went with that color

Most black people aren't albinos. Blonde hair is not a common trait among black people, to pretend otherwise is to be delusional.

The only one who looks good with it is Rihanna. She looks gorgeous below, with the warmer toned, "honey-blonde", paired with her skin tone:
