I def would worry about wildfires in that area. It is sooo dry and a bit isolated up those hills. Its a bit further out from Malibu/Calabasas area.

Oh wow. She went to USC & UCLA. Go for her.

I like the farm look. Not my kind of home, though.

This is shameful. "Black Lives Matter" but you're buying a million-dollar house next door to Calabasas and Malibu, no black people to be seen except the celebrities. Meanwhile what has BLM built for the people of Ferguson? Chicago? Detroit? San Francisco? This is incredibly shameful and I feel for the families of the deceased that she used to prop herself up.

People always want black women to work for free. Then when they end up old and by themselves like Rosa Parks someone outside of the community must help them.

They don't seem to know leaders of top non profits earn six figures. A Black male CEO of a non profit took 1 million as his salary from the 5 that was raised, lol.

She was attacked by a black man
That’s the sh!t they all don’t mention, I told a family member and they all stared lmao. I said who the hell y’all think helped her Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton FOH. That’s why I don’t mule or give back anything to that faux community it’s not for women. The little ceaser CEO had paid her rent in Detroit. Black women stop this sh!t wake up.

Did anyone read that listing? I read a lot of shade in it. Maybe that's how these things are written but the descriptions leaned in the negative rather than positive. I read one slight after another:

"Since then, the largely decentralized movement" (referring to BLM)

"The two guest bedrooms and hall bathroom are fairly ordinary, as is the simple and up-to-date though not especially high-end kitchen"

"The property’s not-quite 2,400 square feet"

"An un-landscaped dust bowl with little charm besides the natural beauty of the trees"

"The backyard offers little more than a covered patio for alfresco dining"

It's California and there's some land (1/4 acre) so I'm not surprised by the price. I actually don't consider it to be extravagant and I'm not surprised since she's also an author and public speaker. I know nothing about the financial structure of BLM and didn't realize there was so much controversy.

eta for my spelling

IKYFL.

One-point-four million dollars, and all she has is 2400 sq ft and a quarter of an acre? :sidefrown

And they got the gall to call it a compound.

I guess it looks okay on the inside, but it has zero curb appeal. It looks dusty. But let me hush and go do something productive for a couple of hours.
They’re trying to make it seem likes she’s using BLM donations to fund a lavish lifestyle. The southern Californian housing market is very competitive. It’s not unusual in LA for 1500 square foot houses to go for 9000000 or even a million. I have family in SoCal and they had to move out in the desert because of how expensive houses are getting.

Eh, not a good look because people will assume negative things. Personally, I definitely would’ve bought a nice house (activists deserve nice things) but something way cheaper than $1.4 million.
The housing market in places like NY and LA is expensive. Unless you want to hear gunshots at night you are paying over a million for a house. And these are not mansions these are like 1200 square foot houses

There is no righteousness in poverty and I am the first to cheer for Black women getting to a bag but this is shady shady business and I am beyond disappointed the way this has all played out. To have accusations of theft from literal mothers of victims and the opaquness of how the organization handled funding is painful. It didn't even have to be this way because people pushed to get the original trio to install some kind of framework early on and they refused. Now looking back we can see why they were so resistant.

Obviously Patrice is entitled to buy whatever she wants with her money but I'm always see her differently because of how this all went down and who ultimately got left in the dust.

Y’all are about to show out, but I have no problems with activists receiving big deals for their activism

Prices in Los Angeles are outrageous, though. That is all that $1,400,000 buys?
She could of purchased, for that price, a much bigger and better house in Ladera Heights, View Park/Windsor Hills or Baldwin Hills...you know predominantly upper middle class Black communities.

Black Lives Matter Co-Founder Patrisse Khan-Cullors Lands Topanga Canyon Compound

1617995145270.png

A secluded mini-compound tucked into L.A.’s rustic and semi-remote Topanga Canyon was recently sold for a tad more than $1.4 million to a corporate entity that public records show is controlled by Patrisse Khan-Cullors, 37-year-old social justice visionary and co-founder of the galvanizing and, for some, controversial Black Lives Matter movement.

Kahn-Cullors, a UCLA and USC graduate married about five years ago to social activist (and amateur boxer) Janaya Khan, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto, created the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag in 2013 in response to George Zimmerman’s acquittal in the 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin. Since then, the largely decentralized movement has been at the influential forefront on issues of police brutality and racially motivated violence against Black people, particularly in the wake of George Floyd’s killing last summer that sparked massive protests across the United States and around the globe. Kahn-Cullors’ published “When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir” in 2018.

A winding 15 minute drive from The Commons at Calabasas and a slightly longer and somewat less serpentine drive from Malibu’s Getty Villa, the pint-sized compound spans about one-quarter of an acre. The property’s not-quite 2,400 square feet is divided between the a three-bedroom and two-bath main house and a separate one-bed/one-bath apartment capable of hosting guests long term with a private entry and a living room with kitchenette.

Interior spaces feature bamboo floors and, in the spacious open-plan living room, dining area and kitchen, vaulted ceilings clad in knotty pine. A whitewashed raised hearth brick fireplace anchors the living room and numerous skylights baths the cavernous space with natural light.

The two guest bedrooms and hall bathroom are fairly ordinary, as is the simple and up-to-date though not especially high-end kitchen, while the primary bedroom offers a vaulted and wood-clad ceiling plus a small sitting area with glass sliders to the backyard.

An un-landscaped dust bowl with little charm besides the natural beauty of the trees and rugged mountains that envelope the property, the backyard offers little more than a covered patio for alfresco dining, a small deck and a tiny freestanding cabin best suited as a home office, meditation retreat or art studio.

The listing was managed by Stefanie Becker at Coldwell Banker Realty and the buyer by Nina Kurtz at Compass.

Y’all point out that she is a Marxist is hilarious.

Maybe she is a Marxist who believes in acquisition of wealth through self-fulfilling labor?? :sidefrown

So this is where the BLM money is going to! How much of that money is actually going to impoverished black communities?
To the impoverished black community... I agree but what about the families of the victims who still lack justice? Not that money will right the wrongs but they deserve some of the monetary gain that has been obtained due to the deaths of their loved ones.

The theory of marxism is about the destruction of the bourgeois and capitalism. She benefited from a capitalist society that now puts her in the 1% and in the bourgeouis class, while the 99% that she profited from could never be able to afford a mililon dollar home in a nice neighborhood.

You put that nicely. I hope she and her co-founders are using the money from their speaking engagements and side projects to fund their lifestyles ...

Lol well, she clearly isn’t a Marxist if she’s buying mansions. I don’t mind these people making money for doing actual work but it’s obvious that a lot of those donations went into their pockets.

The BLM financial report BLEW ME!

I wouldn't have a problem with her money if a)BLM was transparent about financials and b) she wouldnt pretend to be a socialism/marxist like a lot of these celebs do for points, while lecturing from their million dollar homes.
