Periodically our people find the need to migrate. It's time to stop running. No matter where we live, we should have true citizenship and fairness. It's time to ban up and demand what is ours.
Yes I get what your saying hope you like it here but at the same time out of staters are making problem for black people who have lived here for generations especially in New Haven were I'm from. Y'all causing our housing prices to skyrocket. People from here who have lived here our entire lives can't afford to even buy homes in our own neighborhoods we grew up in because out of state people mostly New York Orthodox Jews are causing houses to go $100-200 thousand over what the homes are actually worth. Its annoying because many still work in NY so its like there's no othet reason to live here other then making things more expensive for us (and it already was expensive as it was). Yale University and a company called Mandy Management out my way are buying up so many properties causing poor people and lower middle class people to pay exorbitant rent prices ( ex. from $800 for one bedroom to $2000 for the very same apartment).I'm in Stamford CT. Not sure if that counts as New England but they better get ready.
I migrated after 39yrs in brooklyn nyc. there are more of us coming. Just got my cT state ID too.
THe hard working folks in NYC realize we can get a better life and more for our buck in the neighboring cities and states. Be racist all you want too and watch my fine Neffertti ass stomp down the street...lol
That's why I think we need to migrate one last time because not all black people are up for that but maybe if the ones that do locate to one area and band together we could actually see some sort of change.Periodically our people find the need to migrate. Wow. I’m from Milwaukee and recently moved to Houston. I’ve never heard anyone (outside Chicagoans) say they’re looking to move to MKE. And they usually only come for the benefits & cheaper standard of living. It’s a place I feel like I had to escape. It’s a smaller Chicago in my eyes. Not a great place for Black people to thrive.@Brown it might seem crazy but I'm also looking into Wisconsin... Like Milwaukee area.. You should check it out... Cold AF but I'm used to that and the cost of living is great and the jobs seem good too .
I have friends there and they love it but they are very well off doctors and very pro black so they keep encouraging me to move but in a cult like way I'm wary of.....Wow. In what ways do you think it's not a good place for Black people to thrive? Can you expound on that point?Wow. I’m from Milwaukee and recently moved to Houston. Don’t do it, even if you’re well off. I came from an upper-middle class family and I still wanted to leave. It’s unfortunate, but there’s simply nothing for Black people in Milwaukee. It’s a VERY segregated city. Racism is just as bad as the south. They just smile in your face and stab you in the back. It’s also a very dangerous city. Bullets fly everywhere in Milwaukee. They don’t call it Killwaukee for nothing.I have friends there and they love it but they are very well off doctors and very pro black so they keep encouraging me to move but in a cult like way I'm wary of.....

Yeah thanks I need to remember that whenever someone sells a utopia no such thing exists. They know me so they speak my language and talk of green spaces near enough to a city scape and diversity and low cost of living etc etc but never the bullets.... they haven't mentioned bullets once...Don’t do it, even if you’re well off. Unfortunately, I believe it’s worse to be hidden. They’ll act like your friends during the day time and feel no compunction when throwing a brick through your car window if you pass into their neighborhood at night.
I know racism and racists exist everywhere. But I prefer you to be honest with me and let me know you’re racist so I know to keep me and mine away from you. New England racism is insidious and highly ingrained. Let me know you’re racist so we both know where we stand. So I know that I can’t trust you, my white neighbor, to help my h I’ll if I’m not home. That kind of thing.
Of course not all anew Englanders are racist, but unfortunately there are a lot of bad apples spoiling the bunch.

I live in South Carolina now... That's a hard pass I'm getting the heck outta here.... Maybe Tennessee but Michigan is rising again and it's actually diverse.
Completely agree. I’ve always said, I like my racism in my face...not behind my back.Unfortunately, I believe it’s worse to be hidden. Never! No where near!! The only similarity is they are both Midwestern cities on Lake Michigan with the same weather Smh.Wow. I’m from Milwaukee and recently moved to Houston. What’s the difference to you?Never! No where near!! The only similarity is they are both Midwestern cities on Lake Michigan with the same weather Smh.
Jesus where were you?! New England states are known to have great education from public schools to colleges and I have never had a problem finding wifi or a Starbucks unless I was in the sticks.I don't see it happening, unless folk are tricked.
I just visited last week and with no starbucks, few eateries, places like DD taking 45mins in the am rush ~ where no one is in a rush, no wifi, just overall nothingness ` don't see it happening.
Education desert, healthy food desert and opportunity desert ~ doesn't leave much to be desired.
Was a nice slowed down visit though.
Milwaukee people are some of thee most conquered, backward, non progressive people I have ever met. Like ugh where is the dignity, pride, integrity, SOLID people there are Extremely Few and Far in between!! The job market sucks too. It is NOT a world class city. I will say the cost of living is cheaper and it doesn’t take long to travel throughout the city, It actually has potential and has some nice areas But Chicago It is Not! Not even a mini one…What’s the difference to you?
Connecticut, but then again, the whole state is as populous as Long Beach, CA.Jesus where were you?! New England states are known to have great education from public schools to colleges and I have never had a problem finding wifi or a Starbucks unless I was in the sticks.
I don't think it's a black mecca but it's not that bad lol.
Yeah CT has a 10 miles square that's ...just ok but the rest is crap...Connecticut, but then again, the whole state is as populous as Long Beach, CA.
The whole state is the sticks. lol
Yeah, but its kina wack there... They wanna be Boston and NY mixed togetha...Yeah CT has a 10 miles square that's ...just ok but the rest is crap...
Good to know!Yeah, but its kina wack there... They wanna be Boston and NY mixed togetha...
I want to buy there because they still have cheap/1982 priced houses.. lol
I appreciate this post. There are so many upsides to living in New England that get overlooked. Nowhere in the U.S. is a racial utopia to be sure. You definitely feel othered, or like an outsider in some rural areas in New England, but I live in a rural area currently, never felt threatened. I remember my family and I were traveling through No. Florida and we saw a huge confederate flag waving in the wind. Countless instances where I felt afraid for my life down South, particularly in Georgia and Virginia. Actually had an instance where I could have been seriously harmed or worse in South Florida. New England is a great functional place for someone to live. Other regions or locales may have the excitement, but many forget that the excitement could be either good or bad. I don't want to end up a casualty or on the nightly news.I personally think New England would be great but people don’t like the snow. Another barrier would be the high cost of living. Also there’s racism everywhere but that hasn’t stopped me from out earning and out shining and outdoing the alabaster women I went to high school with. I’m seven years out of college and going to make six figures for the first time this year. I could’ve achieved it faster but I cut my hours and got lazy, by choice mind you. Theres a lot of tech, healthcare, education etc jobs and many people commute back and forth between the states to help with high prices in certain areas with great salaries. New England being so small makes it possible to do that.
I lived and worked in the south for my first career job and saw the disparities and felt bad about what I saw. I knew I was lucky my family landed up north and not down south. I’m from the hood in New England too, and it’s still wasn’t as bad as the sh!t I would see. New England despite its bµllsh!t has way more liberal policies that help the people. When applying to college I don’t remember paying sh!t for the SATS and all my ap exams were free or severely reduced just based on my mother’s income. I had teachers that pushed me and cared about my well-being. My healthcare has been excellent compared to when I lived in the south and had doctors who didn’t even want to touch me.
Ive also seen the schools education and healthcare here being on par or comparable to Scandinavian countries.
Ive been to the rural areas, like middle of nowhere areas and never felt scared for my life the way I was in South Carolina one time. A literal stranger approached my husband at a peach stand and warned us saying he knew we weren’t from around here and the cops are scary and would search us based on a t shirt my husband was wearing. This was a white man btw. I remember being really uncomfortable and begged my husband to drive us back to the state we lived. My husband and I have never gotten warnings like that driving through rural New England ever. In fact I've been to the all of the New England states and I can’t even tell you what a cop car in some of them look like.
I like New England and have a lot of family there. I could see myself living in some more liberal pockets of Connecticut or Vermont. With all the mass migration of transplants/hipsters moving from West/East Coast to the South. We are seeing an increase in cost of living in certain areas as well as gentificiation/inflitration which impacts the resident black population in certain states. We all know that where ever black people in masses, others follows nowadays within five years time. There is a lot of concern that the South will become expensive and the culture will change.
New England is an area beyond Boston that has affordable property. It is somewhat boring and lily white but it seems that it can be a peaceful area to live with smaller white population in these states. There are black folks that live in these areas but not in mass.
Is there a possibility of New England being a potential mass migration area.
New England compromises of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island
True and non-Hispanic whites are the majority in most states except Hawaii and California. Hawaii is the only state with a nonwhite majority which is East Asian. Black people are a minority in every state. Mississippi has the largest population of Black people which is only 37%.The idea that New England isl illy white is inaccurate.
It's 74% white non-Hispanic. And thatsincludes Northern New England
It's less white than Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Arkansas etc.
Southern New England is more like 65-66% non-hispanic white. It's a diverse area, but highly segregated
DC would be a black plurality. Even including mixed-race folks and black Latinos DC is not 50%+ black..more like 45%.True and non-Hispanic whites are the majority in most states except Hawaii and California. Hawaii is the only state with a nonwhite majority which is East Asian. Black people are a minority in every state. Mississippi has the largest population of Black people which is only 37%.
If DC was a state, it be Black majority
