First of let's do the boring facts first.

Kathleen Hartnett White was nominated to fill the post as Chairman on the Council on Environmental Quality.
"The Council on Environmental Quality works to balance environmental, economic, and social objectives in pursuit "productive harmony" between humans and their environment."

Bush
nominated a lawyer who lobbied for energy companies and two days before news broke out that he had doctored government reports, to deny links between emissions and global warming, he resigned "to spend more time with his family." Obviously he immediately went to work for ExxonMobil.

Obama nominated two women, one who had worked on environmental, water and energy issues making cities more energy efficient and investing properly in renewable energy and the other previously did work on the use of public lands and was in the National Parks Service.

And now to the good sh*t.

Trump
nominated a woman who got a Bachelors in Humanities and Religion. She worked for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and then at the Texas Public Policy Foundation which is funded by Koch Industries, ExxonMobil, Chevron, and other fossil-fuel companies.

She has written that
"climate change and regulation is a conspiracy pushed by communists"
"industry is essential to a healthy environment."
"renewable energy is unreliable and parasitic
"science does not dictate policy in democracies."

And now the crazy sh*t

"carbon dioxide is the gas of life"
and that more of it won't cause harm. Yes there is a planet in the which has mostly carbon dioxide, green house gases, and where metal melts at surface temperature, Venus.

Venus is generally used as an example of how greenhouse gases can change the Earth.

And here's the kicker.
Her article on how slavery ended because of fossil fuels.

Energy and Freedom

"Fossil fuels dissolved the economic justification for slavery.
The productivity made possible by fossil fuels led to the institutionalization of compassion and respect for the inalienable rights of each human individual."

Her argument is basically that using coal in the Industrial Revolution made people kinder, and that kindness ended slavery.

And yes the Republicans in the Senate confirmed, that they were all full up on crazy already, that they wouldn't support her and the White House withdrew her nomination.

Some hard facts.

Slaves were working in coal mines around Richmond, Va. as early as 1760. During the Civil War, a thousand slaves dug coal for 22 companies in the “Richmond Basin.”

Slavery in the mines didn’t end after the war in 1865. For decades prisoners convicted of “vagrancy” and “loitering” worked as virtual slaves for private outfits in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. From 1880 to 1904, 10 percent of Alabama’s state budget was paid by leasing prisoners to coal companies.

African Americans accounted from 83 percent to 90 percent of these slave miners in Alabama. Sixty-nine percent of Tennessee prisoners digging coal in 1891 were Black.

The best people. She was appointed to a position by Rick Perry in Texas and he seemed to have been one of her supporters in the White House.
Just another corporate lobbyist like Bush's guys but actually worse because you know, the craziness.
