IDC, IDC, expose the b!tch. Hope she feels as stupid as she is. Imagine being so petty as to let racism get in the way of saving lives.

I have family and friends working in the NHS but this is why I don't get caught up in that lovefest for all medical workers. Especially since that story came out at the start of the pandemic about a black woman being denied care or transportation by NHS paramedics.

It’s not to do with being black. It’s more xenophobic than racist.
The issue is her being Nigerian. Nigerian nurses have a reputation in nursing. Even the Caribbean’s don’t like them

Not surprising unfortunately. When it comes to finance and the medical field, it is extremely difficult to advance in those fields. They will keep on giving you the run around, you'll try to appease them and something else will keep on coming up until you eventually give up. It's sad af

What reputation is that?
Majority of Nigerians, other africans included, are extremely hardworking.

The mention is Nigerian not Ghanaian or Ugandan

The reputation is within the General Practice field

there are plenty Nigerian Dr, nurses in hospital etc

but somehow the ones in general practice don’t last long due to bedside manner

It's crazy how so many people on this site have an agenda against Nigerians. You might as well say how you really feel

I have never heard of Nigerian be a problem in the nursing field. But some saying she has a strong case. I hope so, white establishments like to make life difficult for working class, low income, black workers even if the proof is in the pudding.

What is wrong with these psychopaths racists? The minorities are some of the best workers they have

As an NHS service user, I noticed that when I received; Poor bedside manner, Brashness, garish Appearance, Histrionic and Bad Behaviour, Over familiarity, Bleaching and looking like ghouls (which isn’t easy on the eyes), the nurse was more often than not, Nigerian.

Very much like the Little Miss Jocelyn’s characters. Black, non-Nigerian nurses were less so.

I had one b!tch of a German nurse, though. But I’ve never seen another German nurse again.

This is my anecdotal experience but it’s honest. Be mad.
bolded - Absolutely no need for this. My experiences and yours are clearly not the same - nor was my comment even directed at you?

Your description of the Nigerian nurses is quite telling, but I'll reserve my comments

Still a form of prejudice and discrimination and last I checked that was illegal.

Ask yourselves why they said another Nigerian, not Black, not African.
The Zenophobic comment is wrong
I’m asking you to deconstruct the basis of the xenophobia
Someone already touched on it- poor bedside manner or people skills

My relatives that came up to the Uk from Jamaica in the 1960s who trained up in the NHS....not a one of them didn't flee England and end up in the U.S by 1970.
And none of us who were born here or remained here will EVER work for the NHS and avoid working for any public body, local or central government included, outwith waste disposal.
Yes, I have relatives who would rather take three "low paid " jobs than run themselves ragged and disrespected working better paid jobs for public bodies. The rest work in the private sector or are self employed.
WE have to stop propping up the public state sector, well, at least if one isn't earning 60,000 grand or more p.a.
USE the state sector as a means to emigrate or acquire experience to go into the private sector.

I love how they said another Nigerian
Lmao we never gon stop
Quote said "another one but again a nigerian". meaning another black person but this time someone from Nigeria specifically. It sounds like they are not happy that black people would want to apply for a higher post. They seem frustrated by fact we as black people are trying to apply for something better

Nope. A practice nurse in a GP surgery is nothing special.

I am African and from London and my mum's best friend is Jamaican originally from St Catherine's in Jamaica. My Jamaican auntie told me that when she went to work as a nurse in a UK hospital, all the Jamaican and Nigerian nurses were given the absolute worst and disgusting jobs to do. It makes me so angry and sad.

You hit the nail on the head, when English people describe black people as Nigerian or Jamaican, most of the time it's mean black person but they can't really say that.

I agree with godisgood, the person was being generally racist as noted by "another one", they simply mentioned her nationality as a qualifier.

Really? Like what? I know they have a bad rep in a few other things unrelated to career but I never knew they had a bad rep in medics. I always thought they were praised and looked up to for it.

Doctors and Hospital nurses of Nigerian origin are praised
Physician nurses not so much

Chances are her nationality was mentioned because as many have told you before...drumroll...people DO make distinctions between “black people” and Africans. “Blacks people” is in quotes because this is England we’re talking about so ‘black people’ doesn’t mean ADOS by default. But yeah, flat blackness does not exist when the groups are so very different.

And while the email looks bad at first glance, how do we know she didn’t pass the email on to someone working with diversity recruitments? It appears the woman passed the email along instead of simply deleting it.

They mean the person is from Nigeria or Jamaica. The color is assumed.

Things aren’t as complicated as some people make them. It’s you guys that try to twist and turn yourselves into One Black Group. But that’s not how the rest of the world sees it. Jamaicans/Caribbeans are different from Nigerians/Africans who are different from black Americans. Stop trying to make a universal black happen. It won’t. Ever.
