My family calls my brother buddy and I call my son buddy from time to time, like "slow down buddy where's the fire".

I don't believe that is only a white people thing.

Honestly I prefer that over lil ninja any day.

My cousin's wife (black) calls their oldest son 'bud' and 'buddy'. I don't see the problem.

Buddy is a friend, a term of endearment. I hear black people use it too.

I would love for posters to state where they are from(in general) when they post things like this. It gives more context.

Lol, I think it’s like some black people calling their daughters “momma”...

I hate all of it.

I don't think its a white people thing, more of a relation thing. Some people want to foster a comfortable friendship dynamic with their kids so they call the boys Buddy and the girls Sissy. I only say this because most parents I see using Buddy have a more FUN dynamic in their parenting.

In my experience, I always here white people call others or their kids buddy or bud. It's weird to me, but its not a big deal to me.
