I remember like 5 years ago bundles were all the rage and getting hair that was longer than 40 inches . Now it seems like everyone just wears wigs . No sew ins anymore & I don’t really see people go past 28 inches. Wigs that are Mid back length and shoulder length seems to be most popular now.

I agree that we haven’t been seeing much sew-ins but I think more people are opting for 360 lace and other lace fronts that they glue down rather than braid into their hair.

As for the 40+ inches, they haven’t gone anywhere, trust me. People are still getting them and swearing it looks cute while I’m just shaking my head. :eyeroll

I was just in the shop getting my braids done and two people were there for sew ins. Didn’t catch the length of it though

I'm trying to do a sew in with leave out, 16 inch, with long layers. I haven't had a sew in, in years. I'm tired of the plastered wigs

Sewins got left behind for lace frontals/lacefront wings and bob quickweaves. Most women in my city switch up their hair so much from braids, wigs and natural. I guess the sew in became obsolete due to the leaveout damage and lack of versatility. Also, many people did not take care of their own hair while wearing weave due to the out of sight out of mind of it. People do the same with lace frontals now though.

Lace wigs/frontals look good in pics but horrible in person. I've yet to see a lacefront that didn't look....wiggy in person.

I know too many that wore sew-ins exclusively from the early to the mid 2000's that now suffer from Traction Alopecia all around their edges and in other spots in their hair. I wore sew-in's too but didn't suffer the same fate thank god. Hair styles just like fashion go in and out of style only to repeat itself. Just like someone said up top. No matter the style or wig though. Never forget to care for your real tresses.

Lol I plan on getting a kinky curly sew in with leave out this coming week. At least see ins seem cheaper now that people aren’t doing them. I think leave out is more natural though.

Same! I tried to do wigs last year, but I finally got a sew in with a little leave out (around my perimeter) two weeks ago and I feel much better. It was fun experimenting with the two wigs I had, I prefer the u part wig I tried though. However, I'm a sew in type of lady!

Those lace wigs are tearing up women hair worse than sew ins. Plus it’s more expensive because the style only lasts 2 weeks so you have get it done often
