Hey y’all! Just reminiscing about how I use to read more when I was a kid/teen and loved it but haven’t read in a minute nor have I finished 2 books I started reading and I didn’t even read 2 thats I bought a few years back.

Anyways I guess I’ll start:
#1 all time fave
Ruby and the booker boys, I had all of the 3 books that came out and was hurt when the author didn’t write more stories
upload_2021-3-7_1-19-17.jpeg

#2 Candy Apple Books
I had so many of those books when I was a kid, I most likely read more than 10 of those no specific fave though because I loved all but if I had to choose probably the babysitting wars

#3 (probably) my last best friend only because at the time (I was like 10-11y/o) I could relate to it

it would always be on the shelf when I was in second grade, and I would read it over again and again

upload_2021-3-7_1-36-57.jpeg

I haven’t read this book in years! I just mentioned to mom if she remembered this book, and she told me it’s buried in a box somewhere. I believe the version I had also contained other folklore. If I find that book it is going to bring back so many memories

I still read these books. I was introduced to the books when I was in 3rd grade. Even though I’m an adult, I still enjoy reading the series. So far Erin Hunter has given amazing plots that never fail to catch my interest.

my grandfather would buy all kinds of "readers" from garage sales and keep them in the bookcase. I loved reading from them. I also began reading Stephen King at an early age...I must have been around 10 when I read The Stand the first time, although I didn't really understand it until later.I would skip back and forth to get to the juicy parts, then when I got a bit older I would read it in its entirety.

I loved the Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck, Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell Tale Heart, The Raven, VC Andrews Flowers In The Attic series... However, The one book that disturbed me and inspired me was The Wedding Procession of the Ragdoll, The Broom Handle and Who Was In It. I would study the illustrations for hours and it inspired me to want to draw. I also loved Maurice Sendek's In The Night Kitchen& Where the Wild Things Are. Judy Blume had some good ones too, but the one I remember best was one called blubber, and Are You there God, It's Me Margaret.

along with sweet valley high, the babysitter's club, judy blume was big on my bookshelf. But I use to order books from tollhouse/ scholastic books often. I don't know if students still get those order forms from school nowadays.

I loved (and still love) these characters:

They were so wholesome!!

My mom introduced me to Anne of Green Gables because she loved the story. I've bought or read every book associated with Lucy Maud Montgomery.

s-l300.jpg
My mom wanted me to diverge from the Baby-Sitters Club and read something black. She found this book at Lucky's supermarket.

We're endorsing truth. I did not stop reading these books until middle school.

Does anyone recognize this picture? It's from Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters: an African tale by John Steptoe. This is a book I don't part from. I think every age group could benefit from this story.

I was in the second grade when my mother gifted me this book. Josephine Baker, then and now, seemed the epitome of mystique and glamour. So I was thrilled to read something about her life.

s-l640.jpg
My first Danielle Steel!! My cousin Patricia bought this book for me when I was 6. I still have it!!

I've been blessed to be a lifelong member of anything that sustains book love. I love this post!!

Thank you for letting us share, OP.

I was into Animorphs HEAVY back in the day. My brother and I were even co-writing our own books cuz the author was not writing fast enough for us. And I was all about my good sis Cassie!

Then when I was really young I was obsessed with this book called Golden Bear. Please tell me somebody else remembers this book.

It remains to be one of my all time favourite books. I can still recite some of the poems off the top of my head.

This series is the reason I now wear glasses. I would stay up all night reading them under my quilt. I think that goes for all of Enid Blyton's books, especially the St Claire's, Fantastic Five and Secret Seven series'.

All of Jaqueline Wilson's books.

All of Beatrix Potter's books.

Also the Roman Mysteries series. I remember my parents confiscating them from me because I didn't talk to anyone for weeks on end whilst reading them.

I use to read many of the books posted in here. There are many chapter books from my childhood I can't really remember and it sucks.
