Hey y’all, it’s my first time getting a Brazilian wax this Friday. I’ve scheduled it after my cycle which ends tomorrow. What other tips do you ladies have? I’m very nervous and kinda scared mostly of the pain lol

UPDATE! So I just got done with my first Brazilian wax and it’s was basically painless!!! I’m loving the results and thank you all for the great tips, I took like 2 or 3 ibuprofen, trimmed so that it wasn’t too much hair but that she can still wax. I had a great water and we chatted the whole time!! And she was black as well so I felt even more comfortable, and I booked another session w/ her in 5 weeks. I really wish I had done this sooner!

Shower, take a tylenol/aleve/ibuprofen beforehand, focus on breathing. They're not as painful as you may think and don't take long.

Pop a pill! Read the reviews if any. I went with someone who was recommended by many + the Yelp reviews were great. I was still terrified when I went in, but she made me super comfortable. We chatted it up and that took my focus off the pain.

You'll be fine. It's not fun but it isn't especially painful IMO. You won't pass out or anything.

Exfoliate maybe tomorrow or Wednesday but not the day of, and use PFB Vanish or a similar product for aftercare to avoid or decrease ingrown hair.

I have a high pain tolerance but it's really not as bad as people make it seem if you have a skilled waxer. Take a tylenol and relax.

Exfoliate beforehand, don't be shy, take advil/drink some wine, follow up with aloe vera/chamomile.

Good luck!

You ladies know something I don't since the woman that waxes me advised to avoid exfoliation and xes a few days before. I will be looking into that next time since I'm not going back to her. Anytime I get a wax I take a hot bath to soften the hair and wear a dress or something loose to my appointment. Depending on how much hair I have I trim with scissors a little but these days it doesn't even get to that point. Be sure to relax and if you have concerns don't be afraid to say something.

If you need to, trim a little. Make sure you have some aloe on hand or get some to apply to the area afterwards, it helps with things. Also relax lol my first time actually wasn't that bad I screamed but I also laughed.....

Since you're nervous, the adrenaline will act as a natural pain reliever.
Use the wipes that they provide you in the room. Even if you feel you don't need them, use 'em :p
Word of caution, the more hair you have, the more sensitive you'll be. If the wax is warm in the beginning, it'll feel hot as a mother towards the end if you're very natural.

Get you some pfb chromabright if you're prone to ingrowns.

It'll probably take no more than 30 minutes. You're going to be silky smooth after your wax :p

That area will be tender afterwards so definitely wear loose fitting clothing, like a dress or summer pants. Take some sort of anti-inflammatory at least 4 hours before your appointment like others have already suggested.

Don't let your nerves get to you too bad! It hurts but it's not the worst pain ever.

Not gonna lie to you, first time is gonna be painful as fµck, and this is coming from someone that has a moderately high pain threshold. But it’s worth it, you’d never want to use a razor again once you get your first wax.

But I promise you, it’d get easier. By the third session, I was already used to it and it has been a breeze ever since.

DO NOT EXFOLIATE! OMG, they are trying to make you lose your sh!t! Please make sure you haven't shaved within the last 3-4 weeks. Shower, even though they will ask you to clean up before they start. I have been doing it for a year now.

Thanks for all the advice, I’m gonna trim a little before the appointment tomorrow, take Advil 4 hours before.
