Are you type 4 and how often do you wash during the summerI usually use hard gels so that the crunch maintains my hair longer as I wear my WnGS for usually 5 days but during the summer I wash my hair more. I re wet my hair when I notice it is starting to get very frizzy but I do try to avoid applying more product unless I am changing my style. I just wear my headscarf at night. I use serums in the summer for my ends. In the winter I don’t as I usually layer my WnGS in the winter.
I think it’s best to do protective styles in the summer. It’s humid you’re hair is going to poof up. Get braids or twist.
My hair is 3c but it’s more on the coarse side similar to yara shahidi. In the summer I wash my hair twice a week. Are you type 4 and how often do you wash during the summer
A question for everyone that uses gel:
How Do You All Stop Flaking?
Do your WNGs on soaking wet hair. Like water dripping down your neck an everywhere soaking wet. Also, are you applying a creamy leave in underneath your gel? The products might not be playing well together. I use an humectant gel and then top it with a stronger hold gel to give a good cast.A question for everyone that uses gel:

So you're only using gel on your hair, instead of a creamy product or leave in? How does your hair feel once it's dry?Do your WNGs on soaking wet hair. It feels great. It's soft and hydrated with no residue on my hands. The Uncle Funkys gel works as my "leave in" because it's a humectant gel.So you're only using gel on your hair, instead of a creamy product or leave in? How does your hair feel once it's dry?
I've heard about that gel I'll try it out. can you use a light oil or butter on top instead of a creamy product? It feels great. It's soft and hydrated with no residue on my hands. The Uncle Funkys gel works as my "leave in" because it's a humectant gel.
What would you be trying to accomplish with the butter or oil? I don't use straight up butters/oils or creamy products in my regimen because they don't provide hold, and they keep your hair from being hydrated. If hold and longevity is your objective for your WNG, use the humectant gel as your base and then you top it with a stronger gel that will block out humidity.I've heard about that gel I'll try it out. can you use a light oil or butter on top instead of a creamy product?
I noticed the biggest changes when I started washing my hair more often.i used to be every other week, but now I wash about every 5-7 days. That sets the stage for hydrating my hair. I usually wear WNGs and honestly never have tangling or matting. I sleep in a buff or bonnet and just shake my hair in the morning and go.
Also make sure your hair is kept up with the trims too. Don't hold on to dead ends.
Which gels do you guys specifically use? I want to start wearing my hair out more but my main concern is the humidity in the summer and dry/cold winters .I wash once a week and do a wash and go with a decent hold gel. If I get sweaty though, I'll wash sooner as needed. The gel holds my hair enough that it doesn't tangle. I don't pick it out or anything. I just let the cast break over the course of the week. I use Uncle Funky's gel for moisture, since it's a humectant. Then I throw a stronger hold gel over top to
prevent frizz and tangles. I wear a satin bonnet at night and finger fluff in the morning.
I use the Uncle Funkys Curlhy Magic as my base anti humectant gel and Innersense I Create Hold or Ecoslay jello shot as my topper.Which gels do you guys specifically use? I want to start wearing my hair out more but my main concern is the humidity in the summer and dry/cold winters .
I'm using the same as @petty_grey UFD Curly magic with Innersence I Create Hold gel on top. I just ordered my Ecoslay gel to try last week.Which gels do you guys specifically use? I want to start wearing my hair out more but my main concern is the humidity in the summer and dry/cold winters .
when i did wear it in WNGs all the time (not so anymore as much) i would pineapple it and reapply water spritz and moisturizing lotion or cream on it daily in the morning after taking off my scarf. How do you keep it from getting tangled or dry during the warmer Spring/Summer months. What's your nightly routine?
And keep it nice looking for examples

But having the gels honestly is the smaller part of the equation. Using them correctly will get you the look and longevity for your style.

Thanks! I was just looking at the UFD's Curly Magic and Ill add it to my cart as well as the Innersence. Do you guys recommend any techniques? All I know is that it should be applied on soaking wet, freshly shampooed and conditioned detangled hair.
