@The Zu Here's a better video with more explanation from a stylist. I do a similar process, I just don't add a cream like she does. The styling portion starts at 1 hour in to the video.

She shows how she adds more water after applying the gel, and specific techniques to get the gel distributed evenly through your hair.

How do you keep it from getting tangled or dry during the warmer Spring/Summer months. What's your nightly routine?

And keep it nice looking for examples

I am deeply committed to braid outs and pineapple at night. I wash my hair every 3-7 days depending on how I feel or boredom. The more I keep my hands out of my hair the less tangles I have. Also stronger gels will keep the curls in place (and also release well over time due to moisture and humidity in the air, showers, etc) by day 2-3 my braid outs look like wash n go’s. Two days of that and I know it’s time to wash again
What products(particularly gel) do you use? Does the gel help with SSK's?Do you braid completely wet hair/method? My braidouts only look good for one day
-_-

I’ve never had a nighttime routine other than sleeping on a satin pillowcase. The key to avoiding tangles and maintaining a wash and go style is regular shampooing and conditioning (1-2 times a week), then styling with botanical gels. No creams, oils, butters, etc.

And I’m not new to this routine. I’ve done this for decades.

I use uncle funkys as a base gel and to finish detangling and then top that with xtreme hold gel. These days I always set my braid outs or wash n goes with heat, either a heated cap or blow dry. My ends stay okay with this method but I think how frequently I do small knotless braids is what really messes up my ends

Hm, I just pretty much do the same thing I do for every season. Wash it and dentangle it, moisturize it, set aside a day a week to detangle it thoroughly and wear a bonnet or headscarf when I sleep, and if not, I at least have my silk pillowcase. I still get tangles, like that's just how hair can be imo and my hair def likes to tangle lol but I just shrug and keep it pushing. And honestly, Winter's the one season where I feel it tangles more since it's so cold and the air can be pretty dry.
