the show was corny. Will was annoying. Carlton was annoying and they stayed playing him. They looked too old to be high school students. They replaced Vivian and didn’t like that. I just didn’t like the show. Overrated.

I feel like it's one of the few shows from the 90s that's still laugh out loud funny.

I guess there's no accounting for taste.

I loved the show and i looked forward to watching new episodes back in the day. The show taught valuable lessons at times and it was just plain old funny.

It's definitely apart of my childhood memories and one that I will never forget. Present day sitcoms have yet to match all of what fresh prince had.

Maybe you would prefer to watch "friends" or "seinfield" OP.:disdain

I never liked the show either. I watched a few episodes, but meh. I liked Family Matters even tho I didn't watch it all the time. It had to be nothing on and still has to be nothing on and I gotta be really bored to watch that show. I rather watch air.

I loved it, but I can actually remember when some of the later episodes aired.

I compare it more to Moesha in that there's some comedic relief, but it seems to be more of a drama, for a lack of better words, than a comedy.

Nevertheless, Martin, Moesha, The Parkers, The Jamie Foxx Show, Parent Hood and The Wayans Brothers were all my shows.

I would watch The Bernie Mac Show, My Wife & Kids, Everybody Hates Chris and One on One, but I feel the same way about them that you feel about the Fresh Prince.

I liked it alright. Wasn't a big fan.

Glad he could admit it, since they hated each other. She had an elegance and fire that Daphne didn't.

I can't say I hated it but after they changed out Aunt Viv, I didn't care for it.

The show aired, in 85 so I’m assuming they flimed when he was around 16+ and was in high school till he was 19. A lot of characters looked age appropriate. The show captured a lot of pop culture moments in the 90s, and the crossing of Wills inner city upbringing and moving to the suburbs, and how black affluent people and black inner city people still cross and deal with issues. Funny because the show was actually based on a Latino guys life.

I loved the earlier seasons the most. I appreciate it for what it was when I was growing up but I don’t find myself watching re-runs of it now to be honest.

One criticism I always had is that they made Hillary too dumb. Even if she was a valley girl I find it unrealistic for parents of that status would let their oldest daughter skate by life or be that much of an airhead.

I hate that they get rid of Tyrone (the scene when that boy band are filming in their house and they have to keep doing retakes will always finish me) but other than that it was a great comedy show imo. I like Friends too.

I agree with this. Janet pulled of the Bel-Air upper echelon (almost snooty) wife character really well. While I like Daphne overall, I never "bought her" as a that type of TV wife.

Wow! And all this time I've been thinking I was the only one who didn't like to watch Fresh Price after Janet Hubert (the 1st Aunt Viv) left.

Fresh Prince Of Bel Air went downhill when the original Vivian was replaced.

Even before that. Season 3 was mostly crap and you could feel the tension amongst the actors already. Will's jokes about Carlton and Uncle Phil were funny in 1&2 but in 3 he was unnecessarily mean, Uncle Phil was mean too, Carlton became an asshole, Hilary was vapid in an unfunny way, Ashley was boring, Aunt Viv had a stick up her ass. There were only a handful of good episodes that season.

Seasons 1&2 are some of the best sitcom episodes of any show ever.

It's weird...I used to love it as a kid but I think it's part of this generation over glamorizing sh!t they don't fully remember. Like aside from replacing Aunt Viv...none of the characters had growth...Will was still immature, Carlton still had a stick in his ass, Ashley was still proving she wasn't spoiled, Hilary was vapid as ever...like no growth.

SN..I preferred Will and Tyra Banks together and opposed to him and Nia Long..I felt she was soooo dry
