For some reason my head has been hurting a lot. I’ve talked to a few of my friends about it and they suggested that I get computer glasses. I just purchased some off of amazon. Has anyone been experiencing the same thing since having to be on your technology a lot during the pandemic?

How do you angle your computer? I'd suggest:
  • Buying a laptop stand to raise the height / reduce neck strain
  • Take more breaks - try the Pomodoro method (work for 25 min, pause for 5, repeat)
  • Stand at a desk instead of sit whenever possible

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this. It is possible to have headaches from staring at a screen all day. You might also consider trying one of those blue light filter for your computer screen. They are sold on Amazon.

I've been experiencing this while working from home. It's gotten progressively worse in the last two weeks. So much that after work, not a second after, all I want to do is close my eyes and go to sleep. I can't even work on my own goals because my head hurts so much. My eye prescription is current and up to date and I take breaks all day. I don’t know what else to do.

I’ve gotten the same thing many times from looking at my computer or phone for hours at a time. I just log off and take a break when I feel a headache coming on.

Maybe look into getting the special glasses for extended computer use. I think they're blue light filters or something.

I had to buy glare glasses too. They have helped some with the headaches.

Simply put this extended screen time use isn't normal. Our eyes aren't built for the way the world has evolved.

follow the 20-20-20 rule; take a 20-second break to view something 20 feet away every 20 minutes.

I think your mind just needs a break. Im also the same way, I can't look/be on screens for too long. I usually do something else for about 5 mins then return to what I need to do.

Try turning the backlight down on your screen. Also, when you can print the info and read from the page instead of from a pdf/screen, by all means do it! It's worth it to use more paper and ink but not feel you mind is on fire from too much light and stress.

Try lowering the brightness. Give yourself little breaks to look around and focus on objects far away. I get headaches/eyes hurt when I'm spending too much time on the computer/phone.

You might just be stressed, and that always brings on a headache.

this is what I came to say. You can get them on the cheap..I got a pack of four for 12.99 on Amazon. They are actually more sturdy then the prescription ones I ordered through one of those online frame shops.

My glasses have blue light filter and my computer is set for blue light filter too.

it looks yellowish.

I don’t like white or blue light anyways to be honest. If I could have my lightbulbs be yellow tinted I would do that too.

It’s not harsh on my eyes though.

Take more breaks and drink more water. Plan out things on paper and only use the computer when you are ready to get to work.

Get off the phone too.

It sounds like you need glasses. Even if your vision is fine, sometimes you still need them for such things. Get well soon!

I went through this, blinding headaches, eventually almost permanent, pain killers didn't touch them, and screen/glasses did nothing. Turns out I was low on magnesium and vitamin C. Apparently when you're stressed, the body spins through them faster. Both are cheap to buy online. Just in case your glasses don't work any better than mine did! Hope you feel better soon!

So this is going to sound sarcastic. It's not.
I was annoyed when a target vision center associate said this to me, but it's valid.

Try blinking more.

Often when staring at a screen for hours we do not blink as frequently as normal. That causes our eyes to dry out and headaches follow.

Everyone else has already touched other recs so I won't be a parrot; try it.

It’s the blue light from your monitor.

There are tinted screens you can get from Amazon to help with this. There are also shades you could purchase that automatically filter blue light from your computer or phone.

If you have a Mac you don’t have to buy anything.
I’m sure you can just adjust the brightness in the display preferences.
