How do I delete all of my information from the internet? I Googled myself and found my current address and phone number after an uninvited guest showed up at my house. I don’t have any social media. I plan on getting a PO Box and forwarding my mail when I move.

My cousin said he had success with joindeleteme & privacy duck.

I'm curious too. The fact that an uninvited guest showed up on your doorstep is scary.

I know! I’m moving to another state anyway but it’s scary how everything can be found. I Googled myself previously but it was always old addresses. I’m wondering if it was because I did the census last year it updated or what. I’m also going to go through all my subscriptions and change the addresses to my PO Box.

So why not do what your cousin did if it was successful?

I plan on it but I was wondering if LSA had any success with other sites or avenues. I like knowing my options and knowing how fonts are the FBI on here, I’m sure fonts have other ways, lol.

The actual issue is your dmv, but every state doesn't allow you to use a P.O Box as an address. Anyone can pull your information from the DMV.

You have to go to every website that has your information and opt-out and delete your information. I've done it. The problem is they may be able find you thru a family member, so you may want to opt-out your mom or dad as well.

I never thought about the DMV!
I will, that’s exactly what my cousin mentioned as well.

DMV, gas company, light company ... services that you have to have the correct address for typically is the weakest link.

You have to keep up on it. I do Google myself at least twice a year. I haven't seen the information since I deleted it but new websites are always popping up unfortunately.

Usually these people search sites will have a area on the page that allows you to fill out a simple removal request. I've done it before and my info was gone in about 48 hrs.

Everyone should Google themselves and see what personal info pops up. Also put in your address and see if your name pops up.

Spokeo, Whitepages and other services use public data to populate their databases. You can remove yourself - without having to pay a service.

Yeah,

It's scary, really scary. What makes matters worse is people who post on social media, that's an added bit of whoa.

Idk if the article addresses this, but you will have to do this every few months /years (so I was told).

I also delete my info off these sites by opting out once or twice a year. Some seem to repopulate info more often than others. I think it’s a wise decision but for some reason other people see this as having something to hide. I think people don’t really thunk about how accessible your entire life is to anyone with 5 minutes and an internet collection. Especially when you have a slightly unique name.

Familytreenow makes it easy to find almost anybody even if they have never put info on the internet. It’s crazy. I have found whole addresses, phone numbers and the names of their relatives on that website.

I googled myself and nothing came up but you can still find me through search websites with just my full name.

I tried to delete my info from MyLife recently (they seem to have everything, down to the make and model of some people's cars:eek:) but they didn't allow me to delete it, only for me to create an account to manage my information. :cautious:

If someone else knows how to delete from that site please put me on.

In E.U countries we can request for google to remove our information from the internet, hopefully Americans can do the same.

CCPA (California legislation) has a bit of overlap with GDPR. Right to be forgotten laws aren't easy to implement though. In US, “freedom of speech”, sort of has some ideological conflict in some cases. Even GDPR is flawed and there are plenty of services (that do web scraping and keep arbitrary records of people) that will just forgo accessibility to people in EU/EEA so that they don't need to comply. So while they aren't reachable with search queries on Google, people in the know are aware of where to go.

I deleted it from My Life before, but it was a couple of years ago. I didn't call them, I hate talking on the phone, I emailed.

The fastest way to remove your information from MyLife is to directly contact customer care at 888-704-1900 and tell them that you'd like to delete your profile. You can also request to opt out via email at privacy@mylife.com.

USPhonebook.com and VoterRecords.com store your personal information as well. You can practically find anyone you want to search for on these sites.

That's a good question in the 21st Century.
Uninvited guests make life uncomfortable.

I’m battling with 1 site that is refusing to remove my info. Told me it’s public info and I will deal. (I don’t want to post it right now because I don’t want them to search this site, it’s not any of the common sites and they have many complaints and people have sued them and lost)
