I think this era will be notable for how social media and streaming really started impacting the industry and how people now listen and find new music, for better or for worse. No doubt most people won't look back fondly on all the trap and soundcloud sh!t and all the oversaturation (is that a word? idc lol) but a positive thing will be that people gained the ability to search up more music than ever before and find underground artists. I feel like as the industry becomes worse and worse as times goes on, at least people have that option of finding music they actually like.

That sh!t doesn't even age well in 6 months I can can only imagine years. Think of the most popular songs from 2015. How much of that is listenable today? Who bumping Panda in 2018?
I got so many skepticals but not groans when I pointed out in one of the fifty thousand Kanye vs Drake threads how Drake’s music is forgettable except to his stans. He puts out one or two monster singles that get played to death every year then rinse and repeat for the last 5-7 years.

I don’t think any of these people will remembered like that. Tbh the 2000s were pretty sh!tty music wise but at least those 00s artists weren’t lazy, innovative, actually cared about their brand and craft, and put in major work. Even Timberbitch and I don’t like his ass.

you would need a feel good larger than life artist and personality that put there whole being into the music
Will it does happen that person will basically be responsible for the rejuvenation of the industry as a whole. Hopefully that person is mentally strong.

I would certainly not compare this mess to Disco. Disco is still my favorite genre and I lived through it.

Disco is represented by Donna Summer and The Bee Gees - you can't get more timeless than that for an era. There is nothing coming out now that will still be impacting new fans 40 years later.

None of this current mess is headed for the Rock Hall.:confused::arrogant

The 2010s are such trash the Hall has to actually start putting in people who been deserved to get in. I can’t see anybody from this century getting in until the 2060s and that’s just being nice.

yeah and MJ was put in that postion back in the day and it is usually one person that the business feeds off and best believe every act reads and watches Billboard and knows whats happening
and who is popping. i still believe in artists making a difference and you gotta go through alot of garbage to get to gold

Just that look what happened to MJ when he was in that position. Its going to be 10x worse for that person because of how much the decline in the industry and the world we live in today. Then again that person will be special and have a special platform to send good messages.

Janelle Monae music will do great, but the Archandriod album will be respected more than anything..... Dirty Computer is great too.

I've been sixth-sensing that she will get more accolades sometime next decade, and that her music will be introduced to a new, younger generation in a way she won't be expecting nor prepared for.

Who bumping Panda in 2018?

Frfr I get my life to the live performances!

I have that same feeling when it comes to Janelle, she's a hard-working person and she's not going to give up on herself.

i am just telling the truth
stp using the race card to justify the mediocrity of beyonce
if she is so great like her fans say,she should be above of all the mediocre artists of this generation but she is not
she has the receipts of a mediocre artist

ps i am not white...i am black(african)

Disco only got bad when white, medicore artists started to latch onto it and made it cheesy. Disco got hated afterwards because it was a very black & LGBT-adjacent genre. There's this famous video of all these white male racists burning disco records in 1979 at Comiskey Park in Chicago.
I'm remember listening to podcast about this and one of the only black ushers that night recalls that weren't burning just disco tracks. Some were just black artists.

"One summer night in 1979, 50,000 people got together at a baseball stadium to kill disco. And it worked. Kind of. In this first episode of "Undone" we meet someone who worked as an usher at Disco Demolition Night and played a vital role in keeping the spirit of disco alive today. "

Good podcast

It'll age like snap music. There's barely anything TIMELESS being put out.

You're right. You never hear any of the snap music being played these days. The crunk era had more longevity than the snap era. Other than laffy taffy I can't name any other songs and lawd knows I haven't heard that song in years and I don't feel nostalgic towards that song either so I won't play it on my own.

I completely forgot that there was a snap-era, so...... WOW. Definitely aged horribly, and it's only been a decade.

Extremely bad.......nobody really in mainstream has dropped a classic album that has real reply value. You my have one or two if that in the time from of three years and that’s it. Artists don’t make music for themselves anymore. They make it to be on the billboards, to stay relevant or just for the money because they know the target audience is dumb and follow certain trends. Especially in hip hop no one wants to be original they all want to follow someone else’s blueprint. Or make that one song for them to get money and tour and we hear nothing about them anymore unless it’s on the shade room or something pertaining to drama.

Honestly music has been pushed to cater to teens too much. It’s like that’s all the industry cares about now.

Their isn’t much music being pushed for everyone to enjoy.

Stuff like
Happy - Pharrell
24 K magic - Bruno
Beyoncé - love on top

The songs that are for all ages are rare now.

It won't age well how many top 100 songs can you remember from last year? Few of these songs/artist will have any longevity.
