Kind of want twins. If you could do it over, would you only have one? What was the pregnancy like (having two humans wrestle inside of you)?

Good question OP. I'm going to more than likely have twins if I ever have kids, so I'm interested in knowing also

I would be more worried about when they come out. I'm afraid of raising one child I can imagine two at the same time. The idea is nice but really thinking about the care they will need. It's scary

I actually know of a mom of twins who said her morning sickness wasn't any worse than her other kids' (single births). I was surprised...idk why but I thought it'd be twice the sickness. But everyone's pregnancy is different, of course...

My nephews are twins and yes, when they were babies they would cry at the SAME TIME!!! They're a lot of fun though. It's a lot of work but twins are awesome.

My sis said her birth didn't hurt. Lol. Probably was the epidural but yeah her pregnancy wasn't comfortable.

Oh and one twin was taking too much food and the other not enough so they induced their birth.

I dont get why anyone would want twins. Thats considered a high risk pregnancy! Double the dr appts your usually seeing your regular ob and a pernatologist.
Too much risk of one or both not making it, especially if there sharing a placenta. No thanks! You c-section risk is increased also. And your babies will have a higher chance of ending up in the nicu due to being born earlier.

Both my mom and dad have twins in their immediate family so I would like to know too because it runs strong on both sides.

As a father of twins who are now 10, there were many a nights i didnt think there was a god because who would be cruel enough to wish this upon anyone. Playing, but seriously, some nights were rough. My twin girls were born at 34 weeks and were on oxygen machines after being released from the hospital for the first month out of the hospital.

How do you know that?

Twins run in my family on two sides. On one side, my great-great grandfather's oldest sisters were twins & the oldest girl from each generation after that has had twins and I'm the oldest in mine. He had two wives and the oldest girls from each wife had twins on down. I'm next in line and it has not skipped a generation yet.

I have always wanted them. My OBGYN said that at my age I haven't lost a lot of eggs like a lot of women do by now, and that if I am pregnant in the next 4-5 years, It's a high chance of me getting healthy twins! Let us pray, cuz I want one of each, and if I get a boy and a girl the first time...God is good y'all! LOL

I didn't say there was. I said I am probably going to have twins because the oldest woman in every generation of my family has had a set of twins. I didn't say anything about a me having a twin gene

You said "run in the family" thats what run in the family means. There is no such thing. You are basing you having twins on a superstition.

Your chance of having twins is the same as everyone else. Unless you have hyperovulation. If you weren't diagnosed with that then there is no way for you to know.

I did have some irregular cycles for some time, but he also said this is rare, but occurs. I asked him is it possible that I will lose a lot in a short period of time since I haven't lost many by now, he said anything is possible, but that with women who have retained like I have it's not known to happen, just a fortunate freak of nature. And that because of that and along with the fact that women in my age range who get pregnant for the first time, can usually get twins the first time out, it's highly likely for me.

I get Strv2Perfection point of view. I'm getting IVF soon, and i'm really hemming and hawing on whether to have two embryos implanted or not. All of the health risks involved with twins honestly scare me, for their health and mine. But on the other hand, ivf is expensive, and with two embryos there's a better chance one will take, even if the other doesn't. Its a catch 22.

Twin Mom here...

It was HARD. I started dilating at 18 weeks, and required a cerclage... I was on bed rest from 18 weeks, to 37 weeks. I had pelvic pain like someone had cracked me through my vagina with an axe, and back pain that lasted over two years postpartum. I needed to give myself daily injections of lovinox to prevent blood clots. I spent the last month sleeping sitting up on the couch. My Braxton Hicks were like full blown contractions...that didn't go anywhere...for a solid month an a half. I required a cesarian, and it became infected, and that sent me right back to the hospital 3 days after discharge. I need a wound vac, and 3 months of in-home wound nurse care. Special shout out to my Amazing African OB, who kept me sane and grounded, and wouldn't let me tap out at 34 weeks when I started begging for a cesarian...she was trying for the full 40.

And Then I had Twins... My Husband and I actually high 5 each other for making it out of the first year alive, sane, and with no threats of divorce. I thought it, but I never actually Said it...

It's hard, but it becomes your normal. You somehow manage to get through these impossible situations, and make it work. I don't know that I would ever knowingly ask for this much work, but since I'm a Twin mom I wouldn't have it any other way.

When you say irregular cycles, do you mean that you would skip periods, or your periods came too often? How often did your period come?

And how old are you?

I have boy/girl twins who are now 10 months. I didn't have much morning sickness but I got lightheaded a lot . I couldn't even walk around the mall without feeling like I was going to pass out and I was under 7 months At the time. My water broke at 27 weeks. I was in the hospital for two weeks bed rest until I had a csection. They were in the hospital for two months. Now they're happy healthy and trying to catch up. It's difficult sometimes and there are definitely days where I feel like giving up but it's honestly worth it in the end.
