It’s day 5 and today is my day off and I’m still cramping and having lower backpains.

I literally want to stay in bed all day and my boyfriend took my hand and was like “come on babe, you need to get out of bed and walk around“

men can be so ignorant when it comes to our monthly. If I want to lay in bed all day, let me!

today was suppose to be wash day for me but I’m in pain. I might save it until tomorrow.

I also suffer from anemia, had to get a transfusion a few years ago.

I've always felt women should get a few personal days a month for their periods included in our PTO. Men really have no idea what it's like to bleed out of your private area for a week every month.

We should and they don’t, how hard is it to just leave us alone during that time. Stop offering remedies to ”help”, they will never understand and many times think we‘re exaggerating the pain.

they do the same with childbirth

they think because they Google things, stay out of our uterus.

Men don’t experience the same kind of pain as us.

You shouldn’t do anything, you should just rest. Doctors even say this.
Chinese medicine has said rest when u are menstruating for thousands of years - they also say keep warm!

(Also if youve had anemia my doctor said supplement with iron after your period.)

Yes! Take the time off. I take that week off from exercise except for very light yoga and that's near the end lol.

It's supposed to be your quiet time as a woman. Honor it. Hope you feel better!

And there is nothing wrong with that, do what feels best for you. I really think that women should be more attentive to their bodies when it's that time of the month

I find sitting around makes my pain worse. Soon as I sit down and do nothing is when the cramps hit.

I was just about to say the same thing. Sometimes if I am really active, I won't get the cramps at all/ get minimal cramps, but laying down for that first day for me would be just a direct cause for more cramps + being bloated. I still take at least two Alleve the first day for cramps.

I agree. In any other situation, bleeding for 5 days straight would be considered a medical emergency that would require you to be on some type of leave, but we as women are expected to still work and carry on with life while on our cycle smh.

Do any of you ladies get really bad headaches before your cycle starts or during? I swear it's always been like that for me instead of cramps I get headaches that are damn near migraines. When my cycle starts my head hurts so bad and I always feel dehydrated. Usually a drink of water will cure a headache but when it's my cycle I have to lay down.

After day 5 your period needs to learn how to get the fµck out of town. Day 6 or even day 7 is overstaying it's bloody welcome (no pun intended)

I feel you :( I’m supposed to start tomorrow but I’m already cramping and feeling the emotional effects. My cramps have always been horrendous but my mood swings are getting crazy the older I get, anybody else?

SMH: of course the obligatory lower back pain and pain "in the purse"

Same here, especially that first night laying in bed. Moving around also acts as a distraction. So long as I pop an advil and tylenol early on then I am good. I also find cutting out caffeine and sugar prior to makes a HUGE difference.

Technically menstruation is natural and isn't necessarily a medical emergency unless the blood loss is extreme. I do think that extra sick days should be available in the event a woman needs it for that time. Aside from the first day, I can function normally on my period.

Exercise can help cramps by releasing pain-relieving hormones that counteract the cramp-causing hormones. It can also help with bloating. Exercising vigorously all month long can make your period less painful and even lighter in the future.

This has started happening to me, too. I'm in my early 40s. How old are you? This never used to happen to me before.

I don't get headaches but I get nauseous some mornings the week before it starts.

That happened to me a few days before my period and I've never really had headaches before, so i couldn't understand what was up. Everything made my head hurt, the dragging of a chair was like someone sticking needles into my brain.
Thought something was wrong with me.

I've been exercising for the past few months and let's just say, my time of the month is not at all pain-less or pain-free.

I've run out of ideas. I can't even step on the floor or switch on a fan without feeling like I'm dying.

Yes, I get terrible headaches a week or two before my cycle starts. That's how I know it's coming on. My doctor told me to start taking pain medicine a week or two before my cycle starts so that my headaches won't be as bad.

I literally called out of work this past Wednesday because I woke up with my period feeling like absolute crap. I did not have the energy to drive an hour to and from work, sit at a desk and pretend I feel fine, AND deal with the heat.

I am boycotting Midol, though. I need an alternative for next month.

Myprodol may help perhaps? I also used to have terrible cramps and it would literally remove them, but my periods would be heavy. So I guess it's a win/lose situation.

I think if you try to change your BC pills, it may help too.

Omg I came here to see if anyone else talked about dehydration. I get sooo thirsty when it’s that time of the month and it seems like I can’t get enough water. I have an appointment soon so i’ll definitely bring this up especially since it’s pretty new for me.

Anyone else experience this?

I use pamprin or generic I no longer buying midol so pamprin is a another good brand. Someone posted on another thread about headache relief medicine for periods because it has caffeine and pain relief medicine.
