Does anyone use cocoa butter gel/oil on their face? I usually use either shea butter or grapeseed oil to moisturize but I'm scared to put anything scented on my face.
My mom sent me to school greased up like a piece of Church's Chicken every fall and winter. She used grease and water on my natural hair. Somehow I got away from it as a young adult and even vowed to not ever use it again... and that's when the problems started.
Fast forward to 30 year old me -
My pregnancy was stretch mark free thanks to in part to vaseline. And I have officially turned into my mother because I greased up my baby so much one day, poor thing almost slid off my lap.
My mama smeared my face with vaseline for years and then I let social media make me boujee and think it was bad. It is not!!
I went back to using it and it has helped my skin tremendously in the past few months. I make sure I wash my hands for 20 seconds thoroughly, then I wash my face for 60 seconds. Next I put on cetaphil moisturizer and then seal with vaseline. Just a dime size amount and I rub it in my fingers to warm it up.
I use the equate baby 100% petroleum jelly in the blue squeeze tube. I don't like skin products in tubs because I think they breed bacteria and the vaseline brand is too thick.

I read that vaseline can seal bacteria/dirt and sometimes that's why people breakout when they use it. It has done more for me than some of these $40 and $50 moisturizers I've been buying.

Girll I am looking at the comments like what in the worldLord, this thread went left.
Anyway, I tried Vaseline and my face is just too oily and acne-prone for it.
*puts tinhat on* I think a major part of the vaseline slander is bc it doesn't make money for skincare giants that have made a killing on elaborate skincare routines.
Vaseline doesn't work for everyone but really no skincare product does. Skincare isn't a one size fits all. If you apply it and it doesn't affect your skin or even improves it then by all means continue. Definitely cheaper than most of these 'miracle' skincare creams being promoted
