Exactly what I thought as I read this.

Some fisherman or hiker will come across her remains in some obscure area and eventually forensic evidence will be traced right back to the husband.

I hope I’m wrong, but no family-oriented woman is going to just run away without at least contacting her children or using her cell phone and debit/credit cards.

I didn't skip over it. The kids knew their parents didn't like each other. They have witnessed a little less than 40 years of drama including verbal and likely physical abuse. They know their mom and dad hate each other, so that is why they asked. The husband is not begging to bring her home with fake tears. He is asking her to be brought home for their children, whom I believe he loves. I still stand by what I said. I believe they will find out her boyfriend killed her.
Common sense and statistics say otherwise, but I would love to be proven wrong either way.
