Would you go against certain tropes or stereotypes? What kind of hero/heroine would you create? Why would they be in the predicament they were in? Would it be like slice-of-life or something more common like shonen?
Guh! I am a writer, and let me tell you; I've had this concept in my head so many times, but I feel like nobody would accept it in anime format. Like machiko to hatchin levels of: only a certain demographic takes this seriously...! UghI'll make one based off African folklore.
I already love The Office. I would def enjoy something like thatI would love to do a anime that dramatized corporate work life. Instead of following one character, following a team and making their work responsibilities dramatic af.
To put it simply The Office but make it anime.
I wanted to make one with the 12 zodiac signs. (I only got that far )
Or a girl from a family of demons/villains wanting to atone for their sins.
I’ve thought of this as well, and I do think it would get taken seriously. As long as it’s well written, I think people will honestly like it.Guh! I was going to say this. A NANA but for a black woman. No ratchet sh!t either. I want her to have the same experience.A cute shojo show about a colleage aged black girl
heavy focus on friendships and relationships with some wackiness thrown in
my favorite shows are fruits basket and NANA type of shows, so it would be a heavy mix of heart and comedy.
I love slice of life with a focus on the character’s growth and relationships

I've had something like this I've been working on for about a little over 17 years. You're right. I don't see enough fantasy-esque stuff for black audiences/with black characters.I would love to make a scifi or fantasy themed anime with all black characters. I just need it in my life. I don’t see enough of “us” in fantasy roles, lol. I’ve even considered illustrating an anonymous webcomic because I loved creating and designing characters so much in school.
Yeah... Gotta get my confidence levels up. I've been working the one I've been doing for a while! Thanks for the encouragementIf that certain demographic takes it seriously then that's your audience and don't worry about the rest. You have the idea and concepts so get to work and stop making excuses.
Also y'all might the work of Milton Davis and the youtube anime Black Sands.

No, it doesn't sound harsh. You're right. That's the sad thing about it too. But yeah the stories are also the same bcuz Japan tends to always follow certain tropes, but I'm sure if more ppl gave more variety then things would take off better. It might sound harsh but we can't wait for anyone else to make/produce the kind of media content we want because when non-black people do it we get sh!t that is so off the mark or rehashing the same story over and over again.
