What is your obsession with velvet do you think it comes across as a more expensive look? A few things to consider when selecting the frantic/color for curtains: the color of the floor, the color of the wall, the size of the room and the color/type of furniture in said room. These gold velvet curtains aint it and has nothing to do with gold and blue not going together. You are correct in saying those colors go together but you are just executing it wrong.
If you are going to insist on keeping that wall color blue can you consider a different shade of blue because the one you chose aged that room terribly. And for the love of God will you please raise that curtain rod higher to the ceiling. I see you trying to get the length of the curtain correct but you have got to take that rod up higher.
