I'm extremely insecure about my asymmetrical/lopsided/crooked face.

Hi,
Today a friend took a picture of me and I don't know how I didn't notice this before but my face is extremely crooked.
My left side is totally sagging while my right one is totally not. My face looks so scary and strange now. I've fixated over it for hours in the bathroom mirror today. I'm looking up plastic surgery procedures to fix it. I cried for like 2 hours. I used so much energy to try and love myself on the outside and it all went to sh!t because of one picture.
Now I know why so many guys reject me. This literally ruined my self esteem, I never wanna go out of the house ever again. I'm so broken.
How do I fix this? What caused it? Please help me, I feel so alone, I don't know anyone else with a fµcked up hideous face like me.

Post an example of what it looks like to you and then post your picture.

You may see something that's not really there. Calm down and live your life. You only have one.

Nobody's face is perfectly even/symmetrical.

No, it's so much worse. My entire face is lopsided no matter how I look at it and I can't believe I walk out of the house looking like that every day. I honestly never wanna show my face to anyone ever again, I'd rather be dead.

You should just relax. Lots of people have asymmetrical features. Like Kat Graham.

It's highly suspect that you suddenly noticed this. Meaning you could be imagining it. See your doctor and tell him/her what you've said here. Do not just sit there thinking this without seeing if something is wrong. Besides, there really is a condition that may cause this. Bells Palsy. Google says it usually resolves in 6 months. See a doctor.

It's normal and almost everyone's body is asymmetrical in some way, shape, or form.

And if it makes you feel better, even "attractive" men & women that make a living in front of cameras have some asymmetry to their faces/body

Maybe its all in your head, not trying to sound rude. We can be extremely critical of pictures and to be honest I blame social media. Honestly, If you still feel the same way I suggest you see a therapist before you make any life altering decisions such as surgery.

Sometimes if you see your image flipped it can look like that because you’re not used to that angle. I’m sure you look better than you think.

I just left the sara huckabee is a fat slob thread, so part of me is like, girrrrrllll...

but just in case this is real, girl, I feel like this is more common than not, like other have said. We are always so hard on ourselves, and half of the time people don't even know what you are talking about when you bring it up..even when you try to point it out.

Beautiful people don't always have perfectly symmetrical features all the time contrary to popular belief. Enjoy your peculiarities. I've grown to love mine. There is only one you and you are one of kind. Trust and believe that nobody out here is perfect.

Since you just discovered this about yourself, you're even harder on yourself now. You were fine before you saw that picture of yourself. You gotta get back to that point of feeling good about yourself and hopefully you learn from this and feel even better about yourself in the future.

Bell's Palsy or stroke can cause that, but I doubt its as extreme as you think it is, everyones face/body is a lil uneven

My eyes are two totally different sizes (low key shapes too) and one side of my face droops lower. No one notices. NOBODY!!!! Oh and my ears and shoulders are super uneven. Hips probably too. Again, no one currs. People are too focused on their own imperfections to be worried about you. Life is too short to be worried about some mess like that!

And I should say that I am considered beautiful, I am conventionally beautiful, not weird/wonky beautiful. Don't sweat it op!

Many people have asymmetrical faces and are still beautiful  You may just be used to seeing your self in a profile camera rather than mirroirized (back/phone camera). I have a asymmetrical face as well, however mine is from my jaw not growing at the same speed on one side, so I’m getting jaw surgery to fix it while also fixing my bite.

No one's face is perfect. Learn your best angles for photos and don't stray from them. If it's very bad, a plastic surgeon can fix it with botox (to relax muscles) and fillers. That's a big secret with celebrities whose faces seem to "change"-- they get fillers for symmetry and evenness.

If you think that every guy is walking around with a perfect 10, the last thing you need to do is hold yourself up in the house.

Do whatever you want to make yourself feel better.

OP, my face is slightly asymmetrical as well. I noticed a few years ago after I got my eyebrows done. Just remember that you are the same person you fell in love with not long ago. And work on your angles so you're comfortable taking pictures.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I have a freakish even face and people always call me hideous. View attachment 195544

you're beautiful hun.

My left eye is kinda weird. My eye lid on that eye is thicker than the right so it's not the same size. My ears are crooked too.

You cannot place your self worth in your looks or whether men notice you. Youre face is not the issue. Dig deep.

I have the exact same thing. My limbs are slightly different lengths too so I have back problems.

My jaws are uneven. I'm fixing my bite at the moment and my dentist is going to refer me to orthotropics soon.

I only recently looked into it. It should've been done first. Might not do it cos it's expensive. Nobody notices anyway.

OP it's odd that you've only just noticed this if it's so severe. If it's never been mentioned, it's highly unlikely others see it. I really wouldn't sweat it.

OP. Your face probably isn't crooked. It has to do with you not seeing your face as a flipped image. If you flipped the same image in a photo editor your face wouldn't look crooked.

I went through this same thing. In the mirror my face looks very symmetrical but when someone else takes a photo of me my face looks slanted. When i flipped the image i looked like my normal self. I freaked out for 6 months last year because i thought my whole life was a lie. Like, did everyone who told me i was pretty lied? I even started asking family members is my face crooked. They told me nothing is wrong with me.

What we see in the mirror is not what others see. They see a flipped version of our reflection. I hope this is making sense. Here are some articles that explain it better.

Why Selfies Sometimes Look Weird to Their Subjects

ELI5:Why do I think I look attractive in the mirror, but in pictures and vide... | Rebrn.com

why does my face look crooked in photos - Google Search

If you want to make yourself feel better flip the image your friend took. Or any other image your face looks crooked in, you'll feel better. But the photo won't look like "you" to others lol.

Sometimes if you see your image flipped it can look like that because you’re not used to that angle. I’m sure you look better than you think.
^^^. I think it has to do with modern cameras flipping images. When i look back at old photos my face wasn't flipped. I think everyone loves snapchat because they images aren't flipped :laugh2

Nobody’s face is 100% symmetrical everyone has some type asymmetry. But if it makes you feel better my face is very asymmetric to point that I notice it in flipped photos but in real life nobody sees it cause it’s not something the human eye sees cameras have a weird way of distorting your face

If we stare at ourselves long enough we are bound to find flaws. That is only natural. Try to remember the good things that you do like about your appearance though, and try to focus on that instead of this asymmetry that you've only just discovered. You may be seeing a huge problem that in reality is very slight and is probably just the result of a bad angle in a photo viewed at a time when you were emotionally vulnerable. We are all imperfect. We all have things that we don't like about ourselves. So try to love you, flaws and all. All we can really do. Good luck to you!
