I am on my feet for long hours as well. I only IF on my off days, and eat low calories when I work. I will have a 300 calorie meal, and a snack less than 200 calories. Eg fish and verges at 10pm, then grapes and cheese at 2am. That elasta me throughout the night. I deal with life and death, and I caught myself making mistakes when I tried to IF at work. I cut that fast real quick and gave my brain the much needed food.

Hi! Started with 16:8 dirty fasting(creamer in coffee) for the first month. Then switched to clean fasting and worked my way up to 21:3 with 2 48hr fasts a month. No restrictions, although I do watch carb intake, but, not excessively. I have something sweet almost every day. Just don’t over for it. I also quit the booze for the first 3 1/2 months. Now I drink 2-3 times a month. Much better relationship with food and alcohol!

Finished my 72 hours! Honestly could have gone the whole week but decided to break a bit in between and eat. I’m currently on 18:6 I changed it from 23 hours today so I could have a little bit of something before my workout this evening.

Quick question; do you still continue your fast even if you do an early morning workout? I’m doing 16:8 and while I can push myself to eat at lunch, I’m starving after a morning workout if I have to wait till then. Any advice?
Yes, I work out most mornings at 6:00am and don’tstart eating until 11:00. I drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and try to keep my mind occupied when possible. I don’t have much of a problem on weekends because I am moving around and doing things. I struggle more during the week because I work from home at my desk. I am going to try and move my eating window up to 10-6 to see if that helps some. It can get hard at times but keep going because it is worth it.

I have lost 55 pounds over the last year as a result of exercise, IF, and much cleaner eating. I think IF is much better than most diets if you manage it well.

Hey y'all, I'm going to attempt to do 16:8 today. I'll try to update on how I feel bc it's been a WHILE since I successfully did 16:8..

In the past, I had really bad acid reflux that came from me having H. Pylori... even after the H. Pylori was treated, the acid reflux was BAD (I had to sleep sitting up most nights).

I did Intermittent fasting for a bit and noticed that my acid reflux issues were barely there, even if I binged and went to sleep. Idk if it was IF or what, but I don't have to sleep sitting up now.

Back when I did 16:8 it really wasn't that difficult bc I don't care for a heavy bfast anyway (I'm more of a lunch and dinner person).

It's already 10am as I'm typing this so I don't really have long.

You can extend your fast. 48/72 hours.
I really want to thank you so so much for this advice. After my 1st extended fast, my metabolism has definitely sped up. It seemed daunting to go without for so long and I only made it to hour 44 but ever since then, I am seeing a loss of 1-2 lbs a day! I have only incorporated a very low cardio like walking for 15 minutes and doing 50 jumping jacks a day. That’s it.

Thank you! GeminiKiller. Next time I stall again, I now know to extend it just a bit.

I just completed my first full week of IF and 1500 calories a day or under. A couple of days I fasted for 18+ hours and a couple of days I had 1000 calories or less. I lost 5 lbs. I know you lose the most when you first do IF, or at least that's what I experienced the last time I did IF. I wish I could lose 5 lbs every week. Lol

I have been reading a few articles that state that women can get a lot of benefits in doing a 14 hour fast. I might consider having a longer eating window during the week and then add in a 24 hour fast monthly.
I am also reading that it is smart to eat more of your calories during the day and then have a lighter calorie meal as your last meal at night. I need to play around with that some and see if I can incorporate lighter dinners while still managing to fast throughout the following morning.

Do y'all know if there's any sleep aids you can have that won't break your fast? I can't have melatonin. It makes me feel like I'm choking. I used to drink a tall glass of warm milk but can't do that on a fast obviously.

I'm very new to intermittent fasting, I've only been at it for 3 weeks now. I decided to try IF 16:8, started Jan 2021 but I kept bouncing around 157 - 160 lbs for months. I just couldn't get my caloric intake right in order to lose weight even tho I work out for an hour 5-7 times a week. So about 3 weeks ago I decided to give modified alternate day fasting a try and I'm so glad I have because it works! Here's my results from the past 3 weeks (started 4/12/2021):

3841866.PNG

Technically I'm down 8 lbs in 3 weeks and modified alternate day fasting is easier than I expected! I eat about 2000 calories one day and then the next day I eat 500 - 600 calories so that would equal about 1450 for those 2 days and that equals a good deficit for fat loss for me! I'm thinking about extending my fasting time just to speed things up a little bit!

I've been doing IF and eating 1500 calories or less a day for a week and some change. I've noticed a lack of energy. Anyone know why or how to remedy this? It's starting to affect my mood. I used to be good with green tea but now I feel like I have to have two cups of coffee to give me a boost.

Been doing OMAD since February and have lost 10 lbs of this quarantine gain as of today :)

Part of this is to make the food I cook stretch loll but it’s been working thus far…I try to drink water and la croix when I’m not eating…or take a mint if any cravings outside of my one meal arise.

Once I feel comfortable getting back into my group fitness classes I’ll up my meals again, still eating well-balanced.

I've been trying to get back into fasting but am having trouble figuring out what time my eating window would open or close. I work 8-5 and don't get back home until around 7 and while I used to do 16:8 I'm not sure if it would work with my current schedule, plus I don't eat until I return home.

Just do what works for your schedule. During the week you may only be able to do 14 hours. The key is to stay with it because of the benefits you receive.

I enjoy how I feel with it but not sure I’m “technically” doing it right. I take my coffee with a little protein shake in place of cream so I think that is taking me out of my fasting state.

I’m a calorie counter in general so I do utilize that.

You’re correct,
You are taking yourself out of a fasted state by implementing protein shake, which can range anywhere from 100+ calories.

dirty fasting is drinking anything with 20 calories & less. I’ve never tried dirty fasting myself but I’ve seen some in this thread do it & still lose weight.

When I first lost weight I did IF & lost weight pretty fast. I’ve started again in May & definitely see a difference doing 16:8.
However, I do 24hr fast once a week now. It’s challenging but thank God for sparkling flavored water .

And then did you just know you ate less?
I counted calories at first (my fitness pal), but I stopped once I got my foods correct. You should eat 70-75% fruits and vegetables. If you do that and eat clean (no processed food), you will most likely lose weight. I exercise regularly and now practice clean eating and I continue to lose weight. Getting rid of the processed foods means a lot.

20 hrs in,no desire to eat even after I just cooked. This is only possible through consistent fasting and dropping of insulin. This is the best lifestyle. Will extend to 23 or 24 for OMAD
