Is 35-39 too old to be in the clubs and listen to modern day music? I am asking because my 18 and 16 year old sons think I am too old to be in the clubs and listen to Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Dababy, SZA etc. I am only 37 years old by the way.

No. They are kids that lack experience. You need to let them know they are the ones that have age restrictions, not you.

Hahaha. We are the same age and my daughter think of me as too old to be in the clubs.

Although these artists are not my cup of tea some of my friends like them and they don't look cringey while listening to them.

I would go to clubs where there are no people under 28 lol.

Not because I am that age but 37 is really not that old especially nowadays.

We are at that age where we can enjoy both younger and older stuff.
My 30s have been my best decade so far and I want to enjoy it to the max regardless to what people say.

kids often have the weird mentality that once you're an adult that the only thing you should care about are bills & your kids if you're a parent. this is foolish, adults can still have interests & hobbies & want to have fun.

besides, a good chunk of artists are closer to your age than to theirs anyway. what're they gonna do if those performers decide to abide by their weird rules & stop making music?

plus they'd also make fun of you anyway if you were one of those 'i stopped listening to new music in the 90s' type of adults, teenagers always think their parents are embarrassing. don't stop living your life just bcs your teenagers are being teenagers.

No, tell them to hush....as long as you carrying yourself respectfully do you. Kids seem to think we have to sit at home and listen to classical as a parent.

Why would it be? That's usually the age when you can actually financially afford to be going to the club and ish.

What do they think 35+ year olds are supposed to be listening to? Old negro spirituals? Many producers for modern artists are in that age range and older for example Fewcha is in his late 30s, people his age can't listen to him mumble? :disdain

Do what you want because that's your business and you pay the bills.

Why do they care if you're in the club or not, they're not there and aren't old enough to drink. Your children thinking your too old to do something is normal, though. Think about this, they're 16 and 18, every bit of life experience they have is being pulled from having been in elementary, middle, and high school..I wouldn't put too much weight on what they think.

Girl, please. I’m in my 30’s and we literally grew up listening to rap/hip-hop. What I’m supposed to do? Jump to smooth jazz all of a sudden lmao

Don’t pay attention to your mini haters lol

Kids are a trip. Let their opinions go in one ear and out the other. My kids never just let me be great without some type of commentary, I just brush them off and keep going.

I think it’s perfectly fine, but steer clear of the younger clubs. Those kids are drama, and quick to pop off. I don’t have time to be dodging bullets.

Pop culture and music has no age limits. Tell your boys to stop being ageists.

LMAO. Live your life and ignore what your kids (who can't even drink or get into a damn club!) say. Some of those artists you're "too old" to listen to are closer to your age than theirs.

The difference is I want to hear this music with people around my age lol. That's why I'm actively looking for grown and sexy lounges and sh!t. I'll take the music, not the younger crowd.

lol tell your kids to mind their business :laugh2

My friends kids tell her the same thing lol. What teens of today dont realize is that hip-hop/rap IS our music, we're the gen that helped catapult it into popularity and these artists aren't saying anything we haven't already heard since before they were a twinkle in their parents eyes lol. Even if I don't care for some of the newer rappers that is here nor there. When I'm ready to go shake some ass..I'm going to shake some ass

There are clubs for all age ranges and personally if I go I prefer to stick to parties with 30+ people

At damn near 40 the last place I would want to be is in the club listening to sh!tty degenerate music around a bunch of drunk young people.

Listening I don't think you are unless you listen & act out what you listen too.

Far as the clubs yes you are too old not cause it's the clubs but cause the younger people in them and you can easily over drink and find yourself in some trouble cause you met somebody in them who lied bout their age.

I wouldn't hit up any clubs that are 18 and up or any clubs that advertise on the radio. A nice longue would be cool. Those places usually have a mix of music.

Day parties are getting more popular. It’s great for those who still want to party, but can’t stay up all night like they did when they were younger.

I know a lady like that. Her grandkids have slowed down on clubbing but she still be at it. One time her son went to a club, walked through the door, saw her and was so embarrassed he left.

It's only weird when going out and those children in the clubs are behaving like children. That's the only issue I have. I'm 30 and there are behaviors I don't like and the fighting over stupid stuff and drinks spilling bc home girl is too drunk. Other than that, there is no issue is YOU go out.

I’m in my early 20s and I don’t even listen to that kind of music nor “club”. If I do go to a club it’s a poetry club or jazz/rnb.

To me, personally, I wouldn’t say you’re too “old” it just looks wack.
