From his latest GQ interview: Giannis said after he won the NBA Championship, he hugged his entire family and called Mariah his "wife-to-be"

Insert from the article

After the Bucks had won the game, “What happened?” Giannis asked me. “The team, everybody gathered around when they realized we won, and immediately Coach came and grabbed me. Go watch the tape. Coach came and grabbed me and I pushed him out of the way. I went to my family. I hugged my mom, I hugged my brothers, I hugged my wife-to-be, I hugged my son, then I sat down and thought about my dad, right?” They were in Milwaukee; the whole arena was going crazy. So were his teammates. But Giannis found a place to sit again, by himself.

"Coach came and grabbed me and I pushed him out of the way. I went to my family" e2

It's about damn time he got engaged to her. She probably gave him an ultimatum after the last kid, lol.

How many out of wedlock children does he have?
He has two kids, both with Mariah.

As a Nigerian, I can say this is a farce. Both for Nigerians in the West and in the actual country. Marriage rates may be slightly higher, but not by much. There are plenty of Nigerian single mothers out here. Single motherhood and out-of-wedlock children are a problem for the entire diaspora unfortunately.

oh my god??? y'all are ruthless!
It's the truth.

She is not attractive at all.

She always looks sloppy.

You got tea?

Hmmm lol. Spill the tea lol

There's a reason why Mariah is so insecure (besides her looks).
She seems worse than Ayesha.

Their relationship seems very much off and it never seemed romantic at all.More like he wanted a companion than a lover.

I heard he used to fly chicks out years ago.

I love me some Giannis.

They better be engaged if he's talking all this wife to be crap though. I like them together so I hope they are.

I'm sorry but this is simply not true. Nigerians value marriage.

Yes Nigerian single mothers exist but they are nowhere near as prevalent as other groups.

Ok, so the part about the marriage rates may be off, but these statistics tell us nothing about the rates of single motherhood/out-of-wedlock children. Just because a man or woman is married doesn't mean they aren't the sole parent to a child not of that marriage or that they didn't have kids before (and DURING as Nigerian men like to do sometimes) the marriage.

I'm not trying to argue, but my point is that Nigerians are not much better off in this regard. And with increasing globalization and exchange of ideas, single motherhood/out-of-wedlock children is just becoming more commonplace among us; especially among younger Nigerian immigrants and 1st gen kids.

20 something or even 30 something black men with deep forehead wrinkles disgust me. It’s ONLY that they don’t moisturize their face. Wrinkle so deep set I can fit a coin in there. Men who don’t do the bare minimum, like moisturize their face irk me. Bad parenting LOL.

You were putting Nigerian marriage rates or out of wedlock rates on par with American rates and I simply corrected that notion. Yes with increasing globalization and shedding of culture Nigerians are adapting more to the ways of the West but it has not reached matching levels yet

Wow that's wild. I'm sure they passed as natives with their new last name. Congrats to them.
They actually didn’t, if I’m not mistaken they had to hustle on the streets for money etc. Greece is not friendly to black/African/Poc. It’s quite sad that they’ve embraced him now after he became a basketball superstar.

Exactly.

If he and his brothers were the average immigrants, those racist ass Greeks would have given not a fµck.

But now they're his "biggest fans" when he becomes an NBA star.

This is so incorrect. Some of you just say anything. There are lots of out of wedlock children in Nigeria and among diaspora Nigerians but don’t come and pretend that most Nigerians aren’t marrried by 35. Even the one with children outside marriage. It is a culture that values marriage so much, they will rush in and stick it out no matter how bad just for the optics. Come on!

His parents changed their last name to a Greek version to assimilate as they were immigrants in Greece.
Everyone that gets a Greek passport, his name is transliterated with the Greek System
F.e if your name is JONES , in Greek is ΤΖΟΟΥΝΣ , so it transliterates in TZOOUNS

B and D only exist as dipthog sounds in Greece, b = mp and d = nt

The actress Elena Kampouris is an example of this. In English would be written as Helena Kabouris, but in Greek transliterated to English is Elena Kampouris

That’s more like what I hear. Dunno about diaspora and all but all the Nigerians I encounter are obsessed with marriage and still shocked at having oow kids.
