So I've been eyeing this bag for a few months.

Currently it's sold out and that is why I am hesitant about getting it. Every influencer on IG and YouTube has been hyping it. I'm afraid because of this that the bag is just a temporary trend instead of a closet staple. If I'm going to spend 2K on a bag I want it to be a timeless piece. Do you think the Prada Re Edition will become a classic bag or will it become dated after a few years? This would be my first Prada if I do purchase it. Usually I buy YSL but I am trying to find a new luxury brand to add to my collection.

Also, what other bags from Prada would you recommend? The small Prada Galleria bag caught my eye too.

Looks dated right now.

Originally this look came out in 2005 as a nylon bag. It came back in style in 2020 (maybe the end of 2019 idk) and Prada has labeled it the 2005 Re Edition bag. The nylon bags are widely popular but I prefer leather

The bag itself - Yes.

The little change wallet with the chain is giving me Baby Phat - so no

I don’t love the re-edition but these are my favorite Prada bags...

It’s so basic. Just buy the Prada emblem and glue it onto a TJMaxx bag.
When I saw this bag, I was actually thinking I'd rather go to the rack at TJMaxx and choose a one instead. This bag and the "new" Coach I think are too basic for the price. I'd go for a Bottega Veneta Padded Cassette or the Loewe Puzzle bag. My new favorite black owned handbags are by Anima Idris and Brandon Blackwood.

I think if you want their nylon bags, the more ‘timeless’ of the two are the ones named ‘re-edition 2000 / 2005 nylon mini bag’, as opposed to the other one which has the chain metal strap etc. To me, it’s a minimalist, sporty bag, best slung over the shoulder giving an off duty model aesthetic.

Shoulder bags aren’t going anywhere any time soon, and if it fits your purposes, go for it! I was going to buy the black/red in the metal strap, but changed my mind and instead have the shoulder bag in a bright colour. I think I’ll get use out of shoulder bags for years to come and think that the metal chain bag is a bit too trendy for my tastes and didn’t justify me dropping a bag on that.

I personally don’t like leather bags in this silhouette (crossbody with the metal strap), but at the same time, do you, and don’t regret not buying (like I do with bottega’s intrecciato shoulder bag - I hate the new bottega bag and shoes on insta, I can’t believe how tacky it is now).

Also, I really love By Far’s bags and shoes - they do minimalism and sporty 2000s/90s really well.

Yesssss to Loewe’s puzzle bag, it’s on my list. So understated.

The styling looks very TJ max-ish like someone else said. There’s classic and there’s dated. This looks dated.

Not classic or timeless. But, if you like it, get it - there's nothing wrong with rocking trendy pieces

Surprisingly I prefer the look of the nylon version to this one

I recently bought the Prada Re-edition 2000 in periwinkle and love the color. The bag is a cute little "I'm going to the grocery (somewhere casual) bag."

I don’t think it’s worth it. It’s giving me overinflated price like the Dior saddle bag from a few years ago when Dior made its push with influencer marketing.

I think you could’ve bought a vintage from resale last summer for a fraction of the current reissue price.

I think it's trendy but designer nylon is always overpriced and it'll probably be dated as soon as the next trend comes around.
