I've been looking forward to getting my results forever and I got them today!
Thank! Yes I was born in Jamaica. We have similar results but my SSA is around 91%. Congrats!! Are you Jamaican born?
I want to do this so bad!
Aww I love that you did this. I just looked at my mum’s results the other day, hers are similar. Although recent family history is Jamaican we have significant Nigerian ancestry.
I was shocked because I would’ve thought we’d have more Sierra Leone ancestry (because food and music is so similar) or East African (because my mum and I look phenotypically Ethiopian).
Ja to di worllllllllllI've been looking forward to getting my results forever and I got them today!
Why are you scared lolJa to di worllllllllll

Girl the money is spent! You better take that test (do they have an expiration date??) A lot of us aren't 100% black and that's fine, and it does not take away from your lived experience as a black woman.I really don't know like I want this race stuff to be over lolol I have legit had the test on my dresser for yearssss lol
Hubs refuses to take it too smh he's like I'm black that it drop this lol

This was a part of my search to find out about my family ancestry because there aren't many records that we have. Going into this I knew I would have Nigerian and Ghanian ancestry but the rest was a mystery to me. I am really happy with what I found out and and even happier that I had the chance to tell my grandma all about it.
I'm curious to try this as well, but I'm scared at the same time lol, I have one parent from JA and another from Grenada and no one in my family knows forsure which country in Africa our ancestry is linked too.
They didn't give you any Senegambian. That's interesting. Though you may still have some Upper Guinean DNA counted in the Ghanaian, Sierra Leonean, Liberian category. You also have slightly more Central African than what I'm use to seeing in African Americans. It's been awhile since I've looked through the results of other Jamaicans to see if it's similar to others of your ethnicity.
Love this! Congrats! my fam and I are Igbo (Nigerian) and match a bunch of Jamaicans/ppl with JA parents/grandparents. One matches my dad pretty high and I am so upset that I can’t trace it.
JA is pretty heavy Akan and Igbo based on history, and all the DNA results I have seen over the years.
Senegambian(wolof mostly) wont be too heavy in Jamaicans but it is one of their components at lower numbers. Jamaica appears to have been primarily akan and igbo(females)
Hey!! Mine is the same. I’m AA.My maternal haplogroup is L3e 2b1a
