What is your most outrageously, ridiculously, are you effin' serious, go sit in the corner ass OLD piece of clothing?

-How old is it and why have you kept it this long?
-Do you plan on replacing it this year?
-How does it look - is it bad bad and you just can't let it go? Or it looks fine, but it's just old?
-Does your significant other know how old it is, or is it a secret? lol

  • No expensive pieces (most good leathers have no expiration)
  • No vintage, obviously - we're talking about stuff you didn't mean to have this long lol

I have a pair of sweat Bermuda shorts that I've had since I was 12. I'll be 31 this year. I normally just clean up in them. I can still fit them so I've never seen a reason to get rid of them. My sister saw me with them on last year and was "Why do you still have those damn near 20 years later???"

I am about to do a massive cleanup this summer, so they'll probably be getting thrown out.

A lot of old baby Phat items. I have a bomber leather jacket still in great condition. Iceberg clothing. Many items that had holes or stains I'm throwing out. I have this leather dress that's at least over 15 years old.

My class t-shirt from 4th grade. I got it when I was 8 and I'm turning 30 this year. It actually fits me better now than back then.

Probably my senior graduation hoodie....from 2002
I have a graphic t shirt that I also suspect I got in 2002!

In my own defense, is it me, or did graphic tees just stop being as creative and fun as they used to be? I'm talking about little baby tees that you can put on with jeans when you're running errands? I just don't see cute stuff which is what led to me hanging on to this so long! I have a GANG of new stuff too...so I'm trying this year to start getting rid of things.

I think when you don't change size very much it can become shockingly easy to have some base pieces for 10+ years lolol

Clothes from when I was 18 and used to dress thotty. I have shirts that are literally a handkerchief piece of cloth and strings. I can’t let go of them because they remind me of how bad I was but I didn’t know it at the time.

LMAO I'm not entirely shocked by this! I don't have anything from childhood, but I wouldn't be surprised if I could wear some of it if I did lol

I threw away a big bag of stuff last week and it did include a dress that I definitely got in the kids' section within the last four years lmao.

This thread made me realize I haven’t held onto anything from my childhood. My dad was just telling me how he still has a handkerchief he bought the week I was born. It’s in mint condition btw, lol. I’ve decided I’m keeping it.

I would add - when I threw out that big bag last week (I mean I had about 20 lbs of stuff in a bag I gave to Goodwill) it felt so good. I encourage yall, throw ya old sh!t out!

I also had a bag I used to keep called the "Replace Bag" - I put stuff in there and then I gave it away AFTER I found a brand new replacement. That way, I didn't throw stuff out and then look up one day and am missing a core/signature piece (for example, a red belt is a signature piece for me)

My old college shirt. It’s 11 years old , good condition and I can still fit in it!
I had some pants that were BAYAD - in a good way - some '70s slim wide legs that fit just perfect in the butt. Gave me ALL the Pam Grier Coffy tea. But baby those pants had to be 12 years old. They fit wonderfully...but I still got rid of them. I think I just decided I didn't want to be looking at something I was rocking a decade ago.

And fortunately, universe brought me some replacement pants!

Glad you got some replacements. You know stuff go in and out of style like every 10-20 yrs. it’s hard to find pants that really make your booty look good. Stuff isn’t made like it used to be.

I have a couple of OG American Apparel white t-shirts and a zip up hoodie. Their sample sale caused a near riot in the hipster part of town and had discounts that made me feel like I was buyin’ out the bar that day. It would frankly be disrespectful for me to let go of them.

I'd consider that vintage - it's a label and at this point almost anything from 1985 is a keeper if it's in good condition!

I have a long black velvet backless gown I purchased from Macy's over 25 years ago. Back when I was a young tenderoni lol. I use to be so tiny then. I put on so much weight over the years, but the last 7 years I worked on my diet and health and can fit that dress again......................... with a waist trainer on  .

My kids will find this dress in my closet when I die, because I refuse to give it up. It fits me to a Tee!!

When they bring this stuff back into the current fashion the quality is not the same.

I have two shirts that I bought from H&M when I was in middle/high school. They’ve lasted because back then their stuff used to be MUCH better quality.
I went to one of their stores in a hurry a couple years ago and was shocked to see the decline in quality. Made sense cuz everything was cheaper too

These patent leather Mary Janes from Nine West. They were my first pair of heels. Also, this black and white floral dress from Contemporary Casuals. I worn that and the shoes for a school dance back in 95. I can still fit both.

I have old stuff from high school - a pair of khakis, fleece hoodies, a few pairs of shoes. They're all in good condition and nothing about them looks dated so I'm not getting rid of them until they start coming apart.

I have some Bal-Togs pants (basically yoga pants for dancers) from high school dance classes. They're 20+ years old but they still fit. I also have a T-shirt (those thick athletic tees with screen printing on the front) from that time that I never wear but can't bear to get rid of.
