I haven't seen a thread for Ira Madison's new-ish podcast Keep It! so I thought I should try and get one started.

Does anyone else on LSA listen? What do you think of it?

I'm personally glad to have another pop culture podcast to listen to besides The Read. I've always enjoyed Ira's Twitter so I was so excited to hear that he had a podcast. It doesn't disappoint, imo. I also think Kara and Louis provide a lot of great commentary and perspective on things.

I was hoping someone would start a thread about Keep It.

I really like the podcast and listen every week. I don't really care for a lot of the guests that get interviewed, but the banter between Ira, Kara & Louis is always fun.

I LOVE this podcast. It has replaced The Read as my new Pop Culture podcast. It's smart, funny, and the hosts are delightful. Louis is hilarious with his Oscar knowledge.

Def one of the best new podcasts out.

The Read is annoying and boring and I never could into it.

I really like this podcast. Glad to see a thread on it.

I almost always skip the interviews because I really don't care about most of the things/people Ira talks to. This week's discussion on "This Is America" was really good. Kara was spot on with how I feel about it and the reaction to the video/song.

I agree with you! I like it for the most part. I just don't always listen to the part where they have guests that I'm not interested in.

I listened to two episodes and it's really good. I didn't care for the interview but everything else was really good. I thought Kara was a radical white women until I looked her up.

Loving it, I was getting tired of The Read.

I love Kara, her tweets always make my week.

Yeah, I'm not usually a fan of guests on podcasts because I'm there for the main hosts but for the most part I will sit through the entire episode and be pleasantly surprised by how much I become interested. For example, I enjoyed Franchesca on last week's episode and I think it's because Kara and Louis were also there to talk instead of just Ira very awkwardly going from question to question.

One thing that does bug me about Keep It! Is the audio quality, particularly of Ira's mic. Idk if he's moving away from the mic or lowering his voice or both, but his volume always seems to be significantly lower than Kara and Louis. I think they are naturally loud people but the sound should be balanced out right?

It's just annoying when I'm listening in the car and have to turn the volume up to hear Ira and then get blasted by Kara and Louis speaking up next lol

Lmao I think if you don't know Kara from Jezebel or Twitter it's definitely easy to think she's a white woman. I sometimes listen in my carpool with a white woman and I could tell she thought Kara was white too based on her reactions for a couple episodes until Kara explicitly said she was black.

Knowing Kara was black, I had no idea what she sounded like till the podcast. When I listened, I was like "Okay, when is Kara going to talk" meanwhile she was talking the whole damn time.

I mean I liked what she was saying, but I really thought it was "Sally"

Ira's English accent was a mess. If he had tried to keep it up the whole show, I would've just skipped the rest of the episode entirely lol

I listen to it occassionally. It's alright but I hate Ira's voice. He always sounds congested to me.

I love Ira, but I enjoy the guest interviews so much more now that Kara & Louis are also involved.

I really love it. Louis can be a bit much sometimes but I still adore him. They all bring something special to the show.

The new episode, even with Kathy Griffin, was really solid and funny. My main gripe with the show is that Ira needs to speak tf up!! It’s like he leans away from the mic or something. And I know it’s not just me because I’ve seen people in the Apple reviews and on Twitter mention it as well.

I finally gave "Keep It" a chance after seeing it mentioned in "The Read" thread a few times & now i'm obsessed! I love their chemistry and i actually enjoy the interviews, especially when it's someone I like. This and Who? Weekly are my new celeb recap shows. I mostly listen to "The Read" now out of habit/ for the listener letters.

ME TOO!!! They immediately popped in my mind when she started. I'm glad they actually spoke bluntly on the situation and called out everyone protecting his dumb ass

I like Keep It because they are actually well versed in pop culture and actually intelligent. They have heard of books, movies and actors they cover.

I need Louis and his type to stop creating fanfiction around (white) women.

Y'all got me wanting to subscribe! I had decided I didn't want to listen because I was salty that I gave The Nod two chances and didn't want to think that Keep It was going to be like The Nod.

I enjoy Keep It. It's a very different vibe from a lot of other black pop culture podcasts. Is it terrible that I feel like Louis doesn't add anything to the show?

The Nod can be hit and miss, you don't know if the next episode is going to be super serious or about something super random. It's a good quality show and I get what they're trying to do but I don't always enjoy listening to it.
I did love the Luther Vandross episode though.

I didn't know about Ira until i heard him guest on the b!tch Sesh podast... I enjoyed every ounce of shade from him and immediately subscribed and listened ever since. lol

He reminds me of myself, his level of shade & wit is superb. When he fanboys for something, or when he shades something it's equally entertaining. They can swap out Kara or Louis and i wouldn't care - I'm present for Ira lol

It's not terrible if everyone agrees with you.

The Nod is hit/miss/miss/just okay/miss/hit

Lately I let the episodes pile up so I can just skip one if it starts to get too dull.

Aww I find Louis’s oddly specific, white gay, pop culture references endearing. That episode where they tested his Oscars trivia was amazing to me. Meanwhile, I can’t remember where I put my glasses in the mornings.

Louis is actually my favorite on the podcast. I find him funny and endearing. I agree that he's probably the most replaceable but I don't think crooked actually wants Keep It to be a "black podcast". Ira is actually the weakest link to me because his shade can sometimes be hit or miss. I would love Kara to do a few episodes of Hysteria if she hasn't already. It's a pretty good podcast.

Does anyone listen to Happy Hour? I like that podcast a lot.

He's cool...but he needs to shut the fµck up sometimes. He's the type of person who is just always waiting to speak because he loves to hear himself talk. My patience is really waning with him. I like the show though.

Pop Culture Happy Hour? If so, yes; I love it!

I used to listen to the show but only episodes that were about something I was interested in or the ones that have black hosts. I had a love/hate thing with it though, it can be so stereotypically NPR that it gets on my last nerve. I also hated the regular white dude's voice with a passion.

I had to unfollow Kara on twitter; she is unnecessarily bitchy to people.
