Has anyone been to Key West Florida? What are your thoughts? I keep seeing commercials but don't know anyone who has been

It’s cute but expensive. Lots of bars and restaurants. You should definitely check out Hemingway’s house.

It's a nice, relaxing place. Lots of amazing restaurants. Hotels are on the expensive side. Not alot, or big beaches surprisingly, so if beaches is what you are after, better going to Miami.

Love love love. I’m VERY familiar with the area.

WAY less hustle and bustle than MIA but still pretty good fun. Nightlife is OK, I personally enjoy going to the drag shows lol

I will say the shopping scene absolutely sucks unless you want to buy cheesy ocean themed art and cheesy sculptures, no good clothing stores.

Restaurants are pretty good but can be really expensive as most everything needs to come from the mainland. A lot of my favorite restaurants there shut down completely due to the pandemic.

Activities I would suggest is going on a boat activity excursion, just be sure not to go during Jellyfish season (Sept-Mar), taking a tour YOURSELF of the KW Cemetery and town as it’s cheaper and you can get more in depth info, or going to Fort Zachary beach. (Smathers and Higgs are a hell no)

Went there as a stop on a cruise. I went to this cute little bar and they had great drinks. A bit expensive tho. If you are looking to chill on a beach go elsewhere. It was stinky (water area) when I went lmao. I do wish I got to explore more but we were there for a short time period.

I visited today. Went to Duval street, Hemingway house, and the southernmost statue. We didn’t stay in key west because it’s so expensive.. didn’t see anything under 500 a night. Currently staying in Islamorada which is 2 hours a way and not much cheaper. I think all hotels and resorts in the keys are ridiculously expensive but everyone I saw is taking covid seriously. I would like to visit when it’s cheaper to actually stay in key west, I love a good drag show lol.

It’s only cheaper off season so you’d have to go in the summer (when it’s super duper hot).
I looked up rates during august and it’s still ridiculous :-( I’ll check again. I really want to stay at the southernmost house.. it looks so nice.

I used to live in south Florida and key west is just seriously expensive because of limited useable land and the fact everyone wants to vacation and live there unfortunately.

It’s so beautiful I can see why. I looked again and found a room at the place I wanted to stay for under 400 at the end of august. Still pricey but better than 800 a night!

Hi! I thought of a possibility for you when the website was down. You could try staying in Marco Island which is an island in southwest Florida which is nice but less expensive. Marco Island has services like Key West Express that will take you to Key West by plane or yacht with prices $50-100. That way you can spend the day exploring KW and I think that they have hotel discounts if you want to stay overnight.
