In the latest clip, LA Reid told the story of how he signed Rihanna. Reid explained that she came to Jay-Z's office to audition. During her audition, Jay-Z grabbed LA Reid to present the future to him. Reid remembers Rihanna's audition being good but was sold after she glanced at him. After sharing credit with Jay-Z, Tyran "Tata" Smith, and Jay Brown, Reid said Rihanna is arguably the biggest artist from the Carribean next to Bob Marley. Later in the clip, Reid spoke on the multiple branding opportunities music artists have today and the jobs they have the power to create.

Now I like Rih but who actually has talent tho? I don’t think Rih will be remembered for being a talented artist. More like a party artist or for good music videos. Bob actually made a impact with his music.

Haters first per usual.

“He was sold after she glanced at him”
So y'all are going to go after the people who were actual adult or the teenager ??

He was talking about how big Rihanna's impact is. Hate it or love it but Rihanna will be remembered. In these days where black female artist are making it long in the industry, she's not only making it but she's also the only one Black female artist in these All of time list.
Bob Marley never achieve this.

But she’s making it for her fashion businesses not music. That’s what I’m saying, she will definitely be remembered. But it will be more so for her party music and her looks than more so the music.

One of the people who discovered Rihanna in Barbados said something something similar to this. He said nothing about her vocals but was focued on her looks. There were two other girls who audition with her but he didn't even mention them because they clearly had a different look.

Actually Fashion is working for her music. She's making music because she love it.
It's good if Bob Marley is remembered for his humanitarian music/songs. To each THEIR legacy. No need to try to diminish Rihanna's legacy. Literally nobody came for him and said that she surpass his legacy because every artist have their own legacy and nobody is discussing if she's going to be remembered and for what she'll be remembered.
The journalist basically ask who is the bigger artist from the Caribbean and the bigger artist is obviously Rihanna view her stats. If you don't know, check her stats.

Bob Marley isn't a Female so what's your point. I still stand by what I said.

The only time Rihanna is remembered in this day and age is when she do something other than that no one has her on their tongue besides her fanbase. She won't be remembered 40 years after her death... Sorry

There is already a thread but post it here because they set up Rihanna's name to be slandered and all the haters are there already.

Cliff:
He's basically talking about Rihanna's first auditoon. (That story change all the time). Basically, he said when she glanced at him, he knew she was going to be a star (#MeToo).
The journalist ask who's the biggest from the Caribbean. LA Reid respond Rihanna.
They also talk about all the opportunities that a big Artist like Puff Daddy (Ciroc), Dr Dre (Beats By Dre), Rihanna (Fenty Beauty, Savage X, FENTY, Fenty Skin) and Kanye West (Yeezy collection), can bring for people to work.

I think Bob Marley represents the Caribbean better than Rihanna does. Its the first thing that comes to people’s mind with his name (reggae, jamaica...).

Bob and his music was actually a movement.

That’s like comparing Rihanna to the Civil Rights Movement.

Both are famous, but famous for what?

Female or not, they are talking about they are talking about how big they were.
Let's compare Bob Marley to his peers. He wasn't even making half of the numbers that Jackson 5 were making. Most of his work around the world are certified Gold to nothing certification at all.
Anyway, you're known hater. NO ONE have her on their tongue besides her fanbase yet you're here talking about her... the self drag. Sick therapy

Does he really represent Caribbean culture on his own tho... ? He's mostly remembered for his humanitarian songs who were political and his image with the locks.
He only represent a portion of the culture. Not all of it.
As for Rihanna, altho she pushed for West Indians culture, she was mainly a pop star.

Obviously one person cannot represent every aspect of a culture. I would still consider him culturally a bigger Caribbean artist than Rihanna.

Girl, you quoting my post isn't going to change my mind. Rihanna is an industry plant. She made her money and now she's gone. She was only a streaming force because she put singles, no great cohesive albums and song/album of her will be remember in 20 years. So you mentioning the Jackson 5 is irrelevant because Rihanna will never reach their level of remembrance either. I came into this thread because of the disrespect not Rihanna. Don't get it twisted. Now go cry & stop @ me...

She reminds me of that old white lady who was an actress but made a bunch of perfumes and shilled other products and that’s how she made her money and legacy

Hard to say how Rihanna's legacy will age compared to Bob Marley. Bob Marley's songs are probably better than Rihanna's but Rihanna's songs had more radio play. I don't think she won't be remembered as favorably as Bob Marley is.

Girl, you definitely came on here for Rihanna who slayed your fav overall record sales with her music that your own fav buy and even take her rejects... I'm sure it was another that other woman with her dry blonde wig, it would have been a different tune.
I'm not trying to change your mind. It's not up to me. Like i said sick therapy. Whatever is on your mind, nothing will change the reality of Rihanna being the biggest Caribbean to make it outside of the Caribbean period. It doesn't matter

Elizabeth Taylor? In her later years, she was known for her AIDS charities and White Diamonds perfumes.

love them both. They’re both big and have their own legacies. Imo Bob to me had more impact just because he was a very large figurehead of the Rastafarian movement and made Caribbean and Jamaican culture a worldwide phenomenon. But Rihanna also made impact with her hits and businesses.

idk why stans are turning this into a war against Rihanna vs Bob Marley.

Bob is a legend and will always be that.

He’s literally the blueprints of any Caribbean culture in some way.

rih is just a pop star that made some reggae inspiried songs but her success is not tied to Caribbean culture/music
