I've been working from home since early March and my team has to report back in the office next week. I already knew since early march that they told us it will last till late April. It's a state with high cases with hot spots with corona virus.

I have not heard anything about an extension for work from home. Yesterday my boss texted us and told us to have face mask and lysol ready. I do call center work but with my job i CANNOT wear facemask while talking on the phone. I'm blessed to have a job in these times but i feel VERY uncomfortable since we sit so close to each other.

I have surgical gloves and a bandana and lysol spray.

Yeah Id be concerned too. Especially since all yall do is talk. If yall are in a close proximity to each other, thats a disaster waiting to happen. And your job have some damn nerve to tell you to BYOM and BYOL. They should be providing those things for you all since they want yall to risk it all

I went in yesterday thinking I would be the only person in. My boss was there. She talked my head off and I barely got any work done. I would rather not have our entire staff in. Some people don't know boundaries and we had to force some to leave that continued to come in with cough's before the stay at home order. All of my staff is working at home except for a few that decided to furlough.

Wait a minute. No one decides to furlough. Did they resign or did your company furlough them.

Some of us never stopped going into work. At least u were able to work from home.

Eta: Especially since a lot of essential workers cant even social distance at work.

I've already was forced to self quarantine by my job because I had been exposed to someone who was awaiting test results while i was on the job. Smh.

It’s too soon, a lot of places haven’t even peaked yet. I don’t understand if there is remote capability, why not keep it that way minimum through end of May?

What do you mean nobody decides?

Staff was given the option to work from home, use their vacation time as pto (option to borrowing pto if needed), or to take leave of absence without pay. We didn't let anyone go and everyone will be brought back. About 95% are working from home. The other 5% decided one of the other two.

So again that's still not a furlough. That's a optional temporary leave of absence Furlough is when the job puts you out of work temporary. This is what I was trying to convey in my message and even asked that question at the end. Im guessing you threw me on your wording.

Yes. Working from home ain’t it. I’ve been in the office twice since working from home and it was refreshing.

The only force was staff who refused to work from home had to be furloughed. It was a decision they made. Staff asked to leave because they were sick could use their sick time and still had the option to work from home when they were cleared to return to work. Not that I have to explain what I do but our agency essential to the US economy. We have enough staff to be flexible.

What does furlough mean?
A furlough is “a temporary layoff from work.” People who get furloughed usually get to return to their job after a furlough.

People often encounter the word furlough during government shutdowns, in which nonessential public employees are told not to go to work. Private companies, however, also furlough employees.

In general, people are not paid during furloughs but they do keep employment benefits, such as health insurance. Furloughs are mandatory. Workers are ordered not to do anything work-related while they are on furlough.

What Is The Difference Between A "Furlough" And A "Layoff"?

There is a such thing as “Voluntary Furlough”

I am definitely not ready to return. I enjoy working from home and not having to commute or wake up early to get ready.

i have been going into work. my job could be done from home but because we have a small staff (3 people) and we all have our own offices, we just keep our doors closed. i turn the lights off in my office and kick my legs up on my desk and listen to youtube business videos. i'm using this downtime to get something started on the side.

This. I'm dreading going back. DREADING it. I'm saving so much time and money from eliminating the commute and eating out. I'm enjoying work a little better because I'm doing tasks I actually enjoy and working at my optimal energy levels. I'm able to balance my life better because my downtime isn't spent twiddling my thumbs or playing Candy Crush waiting for the clock to run out... I can do laundry, shower, exercise, do homework, then return to work for the next available task feeling good and in a productive mood.

No.. but I think thin Kemp is going to try to open up May 1st
I am right...and I think it's going to be before May 1st.

He opened up bowling alleys and hairdressers nail salons and restaurants as of Friday. It will probably be regular non essential businesses after that ,with some bogus "social distancing" requirement

I’ve had to be in the office through the pandemic. We’ve only had a skeleton crew present until the last couple weeks, but I’ve still had to have 6 COVID tests in just the past 7 months because some of the bones in that skeleton don't know how tf to act in their off time .

Sometimes I get salty about having to come in, but y’all know what? I’d rather have been at work regularly than navigate working from home for a year and having to go back to being in the office. We are creatures of habit, and it’s hard to get used to commuting, packing lunch, etc after a year of not having to do it. The folks who’ve been called back in the last couple weeks are catching pure, fresh hayull adjusting :pensive:.

Not in the slightest. The only people at my office that are excited to go back are the ones that do more running their mouths than working.

The biggest adjustment would be having to work all day while wearing a mask. (Everyone is required to wear a mask while in the office, yes?)

Yup, everyone has to be masked up at all times. But the biggest adjustment verbalized thus far is just getting used to being at work again. It’s interesting to observe.

My company issued a corporate policy that stated there is no limit to the number of days we can work from home.
We've been working from home for over year & it's been going fine.
All of sudden they want to talk about being a "family". Miss me with that ish.
I don't miss the office politics & the micro-aggressions.
I don't feel like I'm competing with time & it's been wonderful for my mental health.
It's the year 2021: I shouldn't be forced to sit 8 hours a day in an office with the technology we have.
The policy also addressed that we can move to another city & keep our job.
These people will never see me in person ever again.
