I think you should give it a try. There are about 5 older people I see at the rink all the time. I don’t know their exact ages but I’m sure they’re all over the age of 65. They skate beautifully and without any padding or helmets.
But, make sure you use padding and helmets.
Go for it. Life is short and skating is truly an enjoyable past time.

How did you get over the fear of falling?
Ma’am, read the equipment thread and get padded pants, elbow pads, helmets and knee pads. Be advised, that you’ll fall.
Be advised that there is a proper way to fall. Everyone falls. Some of the best skaters and pro skaters post their falls.

I’m trying to find actual falls for you from really great skaters. But, of course since I am looking...
So, here are some skaters of various flavors.

She has a falls video. I can’t find it, though. She’s a wonderful skater.

I hope these videos inspire you.

I LOVE skating & absolutely hate running. I'll run when I feel like I really, really need that extra cardio, but only then. Otherwise, running & jumping jacks are two exercises I just can not stand.

Oh man I went inline skating on the beach his past weekend and wow, that sh!t was hard. What a big difference from skating around a basketball court. I wasn’t to comfortable so I wasn’t going really fast, but I burned 300+ calories in about 30 mins. My legs and thighs are sore as hell, shoot even my arms are sore. I did fall tho going off the curb so I need to practice that more but all and all, I know I’m a be skinny as hell the better and longer I go.

Skating! Every time I try jogging on the treadmill my nose won’t stop running and cheeks turn bright red. Least with skating, I’m just gliding through the wind looking cute n feeling great.

This thread is timely. I pulled out my roller skates and pushed my baby in his stroller. I learned real fast it would best for inline skates. My arms back and legs are sore but like a work out sore. I was sweating up a storm.
