ST. LOUIS — A man has been charged with shooting and killing his brother and a injuring a woman in St. Louis' Academy/Sherman Park neighborhood early Sunday morning.

Keenen Chambers-King, 27, has been charged with one count each of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded to the shooting at 3:29 a.m. at a home on the 5200 block of Vernon Avenue. Officers found Chambers-King's brother, 32-year-old Lorenzo Chambers-Harris, lying on the porch with multiple gunshot wounds. A 28-year-old woman was also shot in the leg and buttocks.

The two had been in verbal and physical argument in front of the home, charging documents said. The two eventually stopped physically fighting, but kept verbally arguing as Chambers-Harris walked away. As he went to the front door, Chambers-King pulled out a gun and shot him in the chest and head, police said.

He remained at the scene when police arrived.

"Responding officers received a spontaneous utterance from Defendant that he shot Chambers-Harris, his brother," the charging documents said.

Chambers-Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to an area hospital, where at last check police said her vitals were stable.

( I saw on the alleged killer's Facebook page where their mother died back in March and wonder were they fighting over her property)

Sad story. I'm wondering why their names are hyphenated differently though.

I was wondering the same thing. Their mother's last name was probably Chambers and they have different fathers, thus the two different last names King and Harris.

It's interesting that the police said he made a "spontaneous utterance". That's a little legalese for the general public. They just couldn't say he confessed to murdering his brother instead of trying to sound like a prosecutor? People will be like what do you mean "spontaneous utterance"? Hearsay rules...for the general public. Just say confessed.

If it's true they were arguing over money, that's sad. The whole family is torn apart now.
