I believe it. I have an Aliyah and an Ariah in my family. And they’re sisters. I never thought about it before this post.

I love all three of those names. Aaliyah is definitely a classic Arabic name. And I’ve a,ways assumed that Mariah is a derivative of Mary. I don’t think I know any Whitneys, but Whitney seems like a classic name to me.

And they always have to let you know it’s heaven spelled backwards too. WE KNOW. Everyone who chooses that name chooses it for that corny ass reason.

Yes I def plan to give one of my future daughters the name or even middle name “Mariah”. I love that name so girly and pretty!!

My niece was named after Aaliyah and she just graduated from high school this past year.

Another name that got real popular too was Shania. My god-daughter is named Shania.

it's overused now but when I was younger I wanted to have a daughter and name her Aaliyah but spelled differently.

What are you talking about. The name Aaliyah is actually very common. I know tons of people with that name.

Aaliyah is a classical muslim/arabic name, I'm not sure you can give all the credit to her.
