Missy Elliot should be on list , she is a real songwriter .
Mariah & Madonna are in a league of their own. Both women write/produce their own music and have dabbled in almost every genre.
I love Janet but her catalog lacks the diversity of the other two. She's still my girl though. But you can pop in any Janet album of the past 20 yrs and they all sound somewhat similar. Whereas no two Mariah/Madonna albums sound alike.
As for Gaga, she not even worthy of being mentioned in the same paragraph as the othere 3...
Take away gaga and janet tbh
I'm confused as to how Gaga got put in the group with these ladies. They're all from a different era than Gaga.
Also, is this as far as artists who write their own lyrics? Or just the their lyrics in general being interesting? If it's about singer-songwriter, I will go with Mariah since she wrote all (or at least the majority) of her earlier music
I dont know what OP calls lyricist cause most in the list are not songwritters .
Gospel: Fly Like A Bird, I Wish You Well, Make It Happen, etc. (Mariah)Honestly neither Madonna nor Mariah has done anything outside of Pop music.

Also to add to mariahs list Fourth of JulyMariah is the best lyricist here:
"And then you casually walked into the room
And I was twisted in the web of my desire for you
My apprehension blew away, I only wanted you
To taste my sadness as you kissed me in the dark"
- The Roof
"When glory days turn to stormy nights
You must have been so petrified
Didn't you, didn't you feel so cold
You against the world in a losing fight
Captive of your demons inside
So you sought an enemy
Like times before to mock ignorantly (he lives in you, you know it's true)
(But the Lord said love, love your enemy so just)
Take heed to the word it's time
Check Proverbs 19:29
Don't cry"
- I Wish You Well
"Well I guess I'm trying to be
Nonchalant about it
And I'm going to extremes to prove
I'm fine without you
But in reality I'm slowly losing my mind
Underneath a disguise of a smile
Gradually I'm dying inside
Friends ask me how I feel
And I lie convincingly
'Cause I don't want to reveal
The fact that I'm suffering
So I wear my disguise
'Til I go home at night
And turn down all the lights
And then I break down and cry"
- Breakdown
"Somehow I know that
There's a place up above
With no more hurt and struggling
Free of all atrocities and suffering
Because I feel the unconditional love
From one who cares enough for me
To erase all my burdens and let me be free to
Fly like a bird, take to the sky
I need you now Lord, carry me high
Don't let the world break me tonight
I need the strength of you by my side
Sometimes this life can be so cold
I pray you'll come and carry me home"
- Fly Like A Bird
Her pen game is...different to the other ladies here.
Janet is the GOAT female performer though and her catalogue is perhaps the best of the past 40 years.
