Ppl are angry in comments and Muslim commentators say there is cultural misunderstanding and she misspoke. Others say it’s tone deaf and insensitive. Thoughts ?

Part of video starts when you play and no need to skip.time stamp: 6:16

There's something up with the link you used for the video -- it doesn't start during the part you mentioned. It either starts from the beginning or random parts of the video

culture and religion are intertwined in Muslim majority countries. If a country is ruled by religious law then the religion will influence the culture. You can’t separate them.

Kind of sounded tone deaf, because not everyone might believe that. Also, coming from a virgin it did sound insensitive.

you do not tell someone who went through something like that everything happens for a reason some people need to learn empathy.

my thoughts exactly people often conflict religion and culture and pass it off as religion.

Exactly, but lipstick alley is very islamophobic so Im not suprised at all

The dont wanna hear the truth and when they finally find out that Islam is not what they see on the news

They just cant acept it, but ignorance create fear so my tip to anyone is talk to a muslim in real life or just read more about islam

Life is too short for hate & fears

The girl brought religion into it in why she is saving herself for marriage. Her worldview is guiding her faith. We can’t take this out of question.

Nah ... it’s not a “cUlTuRaL mIsUnDeRsTaNdInG”. Religious predestination and preordainment are main tenets of Abrahamic faiths.

The simple fact that all that has happened, is happening and will happen is known/allowed/facilitated or willed by God is a foundational ideology. “Only what God has decreed will happen to us.”

So yeah, she meant it happened for a reason because most religious people are brainwashed into believing that God does not make errors and every trial has a lesson/reward.

This is one of the reasons I’m no longer practicing, the paradox of free will was too paralysing. I’m free to do what I want and yet god has already preordained what I am to do and there’s no deviating from that.

This paradox is interesting. Ppl have free will but everything is preordained ? Please make it make sense.

In general if you watch that girl Rahan's intro. It's very different from the other two (Bri & Skyler). She def thinks she's better than other ppl lol. The other two stated it matter of fact, but she lead with her faith and had very "um..yall should know this already" energy lol. I just feel like its a big part of her identity. That being said I agree that a lot of muslims don't lead with it the way she does. She however does tho.

Honestly there are a lot of islamaphobic communities or places with latent islamaphobia. I personally don't think LSA is one of these places. I've had some nice nuanced convos on here. I think there are a lot of muslims on here and it helps provide perspective and good convo

im sure she meant it like 'now you know how men really are behind closed doors, you wont be so quick with the next guy. you can protect yourself more now'. shes the virgin one who wants to wait for marriage, from her perspective she thinks finding the 'right man' will eliminate all issues regarding consent and being uncomfortable

it came off so victim blaming and slutshaming though. she could have chosen a better way to say it. something like 'im sorry that happened to you, it can be dangerous for women. you will find someone who is respectful of you in the future'

Little does she know she can still be xesually assaulted even after waiting for marriage, and then what ?
It's crazy scary how some people are brainwashed.
