I over heard my kids teacher say she made cookies in her air fryer and said “You’ve never had a cookie until you air fryer it”

I’m like damn... Let me try
Dr. Oz's show to day was about cooking in a toaster oven. I love mine. And my hot plate. My stove broke last April. Haven't missed it. Getting an airfryer next

French fries, onion rings, bacon, burgers, leftover pizza, pizza rolls, cinnamon rolls, regular rolls, taco shells, pasta, rice. You name it, I’ve probably tried it.

Same thing happened to my mom here was broke for months and she utilized the mess out of her toaster oven/air fryer.

Everything!

My favorite though is rack of lamb. 7 minutes and it beats any restaurant dish. I forget the temp though.

I have not fried chicken in oil since I got my air fryer two years ago. Now granted, I've only done wing dings and never tried to do whole pieces of chicken (I think I would still use a stove for that) but my wing dings are SO good in the fryer. It took some experimentation to get the temps and times correct for the right crispiness but now, I'd never go back to oil or oven frying.

Please share.

I tried frying chicken once and it just wasn't a good experience.

You mean with breading and everything?

Wings good
Fries from scratch. So much easier and healthy!
I burnt the kale chips attempt idk how it came out seaweed
Frozen tators, pizza rolls stuff like that so much better
Pillsbury biscuits and cinnamon rolls (I didn't like it)

I made a vanilla cake from scratch and it came out just ok since I chose to blend those healthy flours. The boxed cakes came out good and no mess.

I'm attempting cookies this week yikes hehe

Sliced frozen pork belly like they use in Korean bbq . It comes out super crispy . 400 degrees between 8 to 10 minutes. I haven’t tried regular bacon yet but I imagine it’s should work with the same settings. Love how the grease just drips to the bottom reservoir, so it feels “healthier”. The only thing I hate is the cleanup.

Bacon is amazing in the air fryer. I put a foil casing on the bottom reservoir so i can throw it out when it's done without having to clean it.

salmon in the air fryer is usually a go-to for me, (with foil down but not covering the whole thing so the air can still circulate without having to deal with cleaning the skin of the salmon out the little gaps)

mom has made donuts in it once though... don't ask how, not sure but they were goooood LOL

why don't you use a non-stick spray? that's what I use.

I want one so bad, but I’m an appliance junkie have no more room on my counters or in my cabinets. I heard it’s good for re-heating fries.

Anything I can put in there I will try. I put a steak in there for the first time a few months ago and it was so juicy and good.

I am telling you Tater Tots were made for the air fryer. Anything small made with puff pastry or pâte brisée (all butter pastry. Makes the best small danishes and hand pies.

One day I’m going to splurge on a larger model.

I received an Nuwave air fryer as a housewarming gift several years back, and I also meal prep very often.

I even make a Mardi Gras king cake in my air fryer. It's real easy to do . I use Pillsbury Flaky Cinnamon Rolls with Butter Cream Icing. You can find them at Sam's Club or at Whole Foods Store. It’s important to use this kind, because they are actually rolled cinnamon rolls. The other ones on the market are more like biscuits with cinnamon sugar topping and they won’t work good for this recipe. Just place the cinnamon rolls sideways on a large rack that has been greased with Pam Cooking Spray. Arrange cinnamon rolls in a circular pattern (It should look like a flower when you're done). Press down on cinnamon rolls with your hand to flatten them slightly. Bake for 15-20 minutes and frost with the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls. Add yellow, green and purple sugar and BOOM! You have a king cake. Tastes way better than the store brought cake.

The last time I made a king cake my husband and stepdaughters ate the entire cake and didn't even save me a slice

I just made hot dogs in my air fryer and it's the only way I'll do it now when I'm not cooking them on a grill. I have a Ninja Foodie air fryer and I use the grill function. OMG the skin comes out so crispy and slightly burnt. I put them on brioche buns and used this blackberry and caramelized onion sauce I had leftover from when I made ribs. Very bougie and elite. Lol

so you just gonna mention this homemade sauce and not even post the pics of where you got it or even how to make it? got my mouth watering and everything...spill it...lol

The only things I prefer on the stove are prawns, eggs and things that obviously need to be boiled like potatoes and pasta.

Literally everything else goes in the air fryer/multi cooker.

Does anyone think the air fryer for vegans is a good investment? I normally pan fry/bake everything. Y’all are killing men with these wing recipes tho.

I got mine when I was vegan. I am not anymore. But I think it would be a good investment. I made broccoli, fries, tofu.

I let some boneless, skinless chicken thighs marinate overnight. I also made some homemade cole slaw for today.. I used this youtube video as the recipe. I might go the air fryer route this go around.

This is my gumbo recipe below. I use turkey as an appropriate substitute for ham hocks since my husband and I don't eat pork.

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup vegetable oil (I use olive oil in nearly everything I cook )
1 cup flour
1 bag frozen okra (12-16 ounces)
2 cans (16 oz) tomatoes
1 large onion, chopped
1 large bell pepper, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
4 - 6 cloves garlic, minced
4 quarts chicken stock
2 bay leaves
2 teaspoons Creole seasoning
(I prefer to use Zatarain's because it's low in sodium. I found that Zatarain's is also a good option for those with diabetes since my husband is also borderline diabetic)
2 turkey drumsticks, cut into pieces
1 lb chicken smoked sausage, cut into pieces
32 oz cooked shrimp (equivalent to a 2 lbs. bag)
2/3 cup fresh chopped parsley
1 tbsp file' powder
2 cups water
Salt and pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Turn the Air Fryer to the "SAUTE" function.

2. Combine the vegetable oil and the flour in the Instant Pot to make the roux, stirring constantly for 3-5 minutes or until the roux reaches a dark reddish-brown color, almost the color of coffee or chocolate milk. (If I want to save time, I cook it to a peanut-butter color).

3. Press Keep Warm/Cancel on the Air Fryer to avoid burning the roux after it turns brown.

4. Add the chicken stock, seasonings, file powder, tomatoes, turkey, shrimp, and smoked sausage, and fill with 2 cups water (or until covered). Cook on medium-high pressure for 15 minutes. Then place the Air Fryer on the SAUTE function for another 25 minutes, skimming fat off the top as needed.

5. Serve over rice in large shallow bowls. You should get about 8-10 servings.

I usually don't do fillings, but if you want to put a cream cheese filling in your cake, just place a tablespoon of cream cheese mixture on each roll and press the rolls together as you're arranging them in the flower pattern.

I've made strawberry shortcake, crispy tofu, fried chicken wings, bacon, french toast, french fries, and other meals. I love my air fryer.

Would you all recommend an air fryer toaster oven or another type?

Thanks for the recipe! I might try that in my regular instant pot. My InstantVortex only has Air Fry, Roast, Bake and reheat. I already had the InstantPot Lux with the other functions.
I'm another whose oven went out in the early days of the pandemic and I didn't bother getting the heating element replaced until the holidays.
