Dr. Oz's show to day was about cooking in a toaster oven. I love mine. And my hot plate. My stove broke last April. Haven't missed it. Getting an airfryer nextI over heard my kids teacher say she made cookies in her air fryer and said “You’ve never had a cookie until you air fryer it”
I’m like damn... Let me try

I have not fried chicken in oil since I got my air fryer two years ago. Now granted, I've only done wing dings and never tried to do whole pieces of chicken (I think I would still use a stove for that) but my wing dings are SO good in the fryer. It took some experimentation to get the temps and times correct for the right crispiness but now, I'd never go back to oil or oven frying.
Hardboiled eggs
And pizza!!!

Sliced frozen pork belly like they use in Korean bbq . It comes out super crispy . 400 degrees between 8 to 10 minutes. I haven’t tried regular bacon yet but I imagine it’s should work with the same settings. Love how the grease just drips to the bottom reservoir, so it feels “healthier”. The only thing I hate is the cleanup.
salmon in the air fryer is usually a go-to for me, (with foil down but not covering the whole thing so the air can still circulate without having to deal with cleaning the skin of the salmon out the little gaps)
mom has made donuts in it once though... don't ask how, not sure but they were goooood LOL
Drop that recipe...now!!!!
I LOVE lemon pound cake
I just made hot dogs in my air fryer and it's the only way I'll do it now when I'm not cooking them on a grill. I have a Ninja Foodie air fryer and I use the grill function. OMG the skin comes out so crispy and slightly burnt. I put them on brioche buns and used this blackberry and caramelized onion sauce I had leftover from when I made ribs. Very bougie and elite. Lol
I received an Nuwave air fryer as a housewarming gift several years back, and I also meal prep very often.
I even make a Mardi Gras king cake in my air fryer. It's real easy to do . I use Pillsbury Flaky Cinnamon Rolls with Butter Cream Icing. You can find them at Sam's Club or at Whole Foods Store. It’s important to use this kind, because they are actually rolled cinnamon rolls. The other ones on the market are more like biscuits with cinnamon sugar topping and they won’t work good for this recipe. Just place the cinnamon rolls sideways on a large rack that has been greased with Pam Cooking Spray. Arrange cinnamon rolls in a circular pattern (It should look like a flower when you're done). Press down on cinnamon rolls with your hand to flatten them slightly. Bake for 15-20 minutes and frost with the icing that comes with the cinnamon rolls. Add yellow, green and purple sugar and BOOM! You have a king cake. Tastes way better than the store brought cake.
The last time I made a king cake my husband and stepdaughters ate the entire cake and didn't even save me a slice
Does anyone think the air fryer for vegans is a good investment? I normally pan fry/bake everything. Y’all are killing men with these wing recipes tho.
I have never made my own homemade king cake, I have to try this...do you do fillings? I love cream cheese filling in mine
What are wing dings??I have not fried chicken in oil since I got my air fryer two years ago. I usually don't do fillings, but if you want to put a cream cheese filling in your cake, just place a tablespoon of cream cheese mixture on each roll and press the rolls together as you're arranging them in the flower pattern.
This is my gumbo recipe below. I use turkey as an appropriate substitute for ham hocks since my husband and I don't eat pork.
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup vegetable oil (I use olive oil in nearly everything I cook )
1 cup flour
1 bag frozen okra (12-16 ounces)
2 cans (16 oz) tomatoes
1 large onion, chopped
1 large bell pepper, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
4 - 6 cloves garlic, minced
4 quarts chicken stock
2 bay leaves
2 teaspoons Creole seasoning
(I prefer to use Zatarain's because it's low in sodium. I found that Zatarain's is also a good option for those with diabetes since my husband is also borderline diabetic)
2 turkey drumsticks, cut into pieces
1 lb chicken smoked sausage, cut into pieces
32 oz cooked shrimp (equivalent to a 2 lbs. bag)
2/3 cup fresh chopped parsley
1 tbsp file' powder
2 cups water
Salt and pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Turn the Air Fryer to the "SAUTE" function.
2. Combine the vegetable oil and the flour in the Instant Pot to make the roux, stirring constantly for 3-5 minutes or until the roux reaches a dark reddish-brown color, almost the color of coffee or chocolate milk. (If I want to save time, I cook it to a peanut-butter color).
3. Press Keep Warm/Cancel on the Air Fryer to avoid burning the roux after it turns brown.
4. Add the chicken stock, seasonings, file powder, tomatoes, turkey, shrimp, and smoked sausage, and fill with 2 cups water (or until covered). Cook on medium-high pressure for 15 minutes. Then place the Air Fryer on the SAUTE function for another 25 minutes, skimming fat off the top as needed.
5. Serve over rice in large shallow bowls. You should get about 8-10 servings.
In my airfryer, I have made:
- Sweet Potato Fries
- Fish/salmon
- Chicken
- Plantain chips
- Tacos
- Roasted veggies
- Tortilla chips
- Garlic bread
- Dried fruit
its TRUE! It is sooooooooo good! I also made biscuit donuts out the air fryer too!!I over heard my kids teacher say she made cookies in her air fryer and said “You’ve never had a cookie until you air fryer it”
