A wife in Louisiana who took a knife to her husband and slashed his penis has been arrested on charges of aggravated battery, authorities said.
Emma Atkins, 34, who remains in a New Orleans jail, was booked Saturday on aggravated second-degree battery charges.
A warrant for her arrest was issued on May 23, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported. She managed to elude police until she was picked up on Saturday evening.
Her husband, who was not named, had a protective order issued against Atkins.
He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of six stab wounds in his arm, hand, back, abdomen and penis, according to court documents, the newspaper said.
He identified his attacker as "my wife, Emma."
She has previous arrests for marijuana possession. If convicted of aggravated battery, she could face up to 15 years in prison.
