My post referred to you inaccurately calling the original misinformation. I didn't address your obvious ignorance.
It left out an entire part of the sentence. That's misinformation.
Here is the entire bill. Read it.
Common sense is not ignorance.
Dysphoria of all kinds IS a mental illness. If a child had anorexia it would be child endangerment if a adult knew and did not tell the parent. This is about children/minors an adult can do what they want with their health but a child has parents who deserve to know.

To me the problem is "gender nonconformity or otherwise demonstrates a desire to be treated in a manner incongruent with the minor's sex" can be vague. And if the child is in a religious school then that can be interpreted in any kind of way. It is hard to say how far people will take this and in the end stigmatize the child with something they may grow out of.

ON THE FLIP SIDE...I dont believe in hormone therapy especially for children as they are way too young to truly understand what is happening. As well as the fact that people are pushing the trans movement so heavily especially in children. I took it as a means to prevent teachers and other caretakers from trying to persuade children outside of what their parents may be telling the child. Some teachers or caretakers WILL go behind the parent's/guardian's back and influence the child with the trans way of thinking.

This is my own interpretation.

The problem is that with the lawmakers they leave everything open to interpretation and abuse loopholes.
This is my point a parent has the right to know and some will try to discuss this without including a parent.. I'm ok if the occasional tomboys mom gets a call if it keeps parents in the loop of what's happening with their child.

I dont mind the part about gender dysphoria, but the gender nonconformity part is where I side eye the bill. Females should not be bound by social constructs. This is the reason why males think they can classify themselves as women, because they identify with stereotypes.

Not a damn person can answer what the hell a woman is. I have yet to see a single trans person answer this question without referring to old outdated stereotypes.
I feel you but like I said above if a few tomboys moms get a call I think that's a small price to pay to keep parents in the loop when in comes to their kid. If you are going to talk to my kid about this then I want to know. Even if you are discussing my daughter being a tomboy I want to be in that conversation.

This is some serious misinformation. Read the bill. This is the actual PDF.
NC Senate Bill 514
Children should not get surgery or hormones or puberty blockers.
And sorry if my child is exhibiting symptoms of a mental illness, which gender dysphoria is, then every adult who sees it better have contacted me.
this isn't overreach, everyone was overreacting. after reading this it even includes exceptions for children with actual, verifiable biological disorders such as chromosome issues.

i take back my complaint, all of this bill is fine.

Extremely dangerous. A child will get harmed/killed behind this.

No this is NOT misinformation. Read the entire bill. Let me help you. Page 4.Line 16.

"If a government agent has knowledge that a minor under its care or supervision has exhibited symptoms of gender dysphoria, gender nonconformity, or otherwise demonstrates a desire to be treated in a manner incongruent with the minor's sex, the government agent or entity with knowledge of that circumstance shall immediately notify, in writing, each of theminor's parents, guardians, or custodians. The notice shall describe all of the relevant circumstances with Reasonable specificity"

And let’s remember “minor” includes 18-20 year old adults, and I think “government agent” would include state university employees and student health clinic providers. A mental health counselor would be required to inform a parent of an 18-20 year old if their adult child exhibits “gender nonconformity.”

And what does “gender nonconformity” even mean? According to what standards? That could mean anything depending on who you ask, and surely we aren’t going down the road of legislating gender roles.

Yeah that tweet in the OP intentionally left out the part about "if a child displays signs of gender dysphoria".

Sorry not sorry but a parent should be informed of any kind of health condition their child may have. If a child is showing signs of depression, ADHD, suicidal tendencies, etc the parents have to be informed about it so obviously the same should apply to gender dysphoria.

Why are TRAs always trying to isolate kids from their parents and go behind their backs? Minors can't even get tattoos without their parent's approval so why do they think it's ok to pump an adolescent full of puberty blockers and drugs while their parents are completely in the dark?

Read it. Linked it in my post. Agree with it. They should already be doing this.
If any child exhibits any form of mental illness then all adults and government agents should be contacting their parents.

It's not misinformation.

It does exactly what that article says.

It specifically lists gender nonconformity.

Saying it doesn't when you now know the exact page in the bill to find it, is not simply misinformation.

It's a lie.

Beats allowing schools to let children pick their gender without the parents knowledge. I can assume this bill was only passed to combat it.

Leaving out the parts of a sentence in a quote which contains vital information is an attempt at misinformation.

The GQP have taken things way too far. What does it mean to be non gender compliant? So girls must wear pink dresses and boys must play with toy trucks? This bill is so invasive. This is some dystopian ish.

Yeah ok sure...This is the original.... Funny how the sentence suddenly has more words here.
NC Senate Bill 514

The fact that you refuse to even acknowledge that the point is that gender nonconformity is included in the bill.

And that people could lose their jobs for ot telling parents about gender nonconformity.

What exactly is gender nonconformity?

Not your definition.

Please tell us the definition according to the bill.

That is the point.

You can't leave vague terms like that out there and say "you will lose your job if you don't report it"

She doesn't like wearing dresses.

Gender nonconformity.

She is argumentative.

Gender nonconformity.

She likes science.

Gender nonconformity.

She doesn't like boys.

Gender nonconformity.

....

I can go on and on and on...

This bill should be a wake up call to all gay people who think that the GQP only goes after trans people and that they are safe from Orwellian laws like these. If the GQP had a chance all gay and trans people would have zero rights.

I thought your point was that this wasnt misinformation? You seem to be all over the place yet somehow you are missing that the majority of this bill is about children.

I'm still talking about the same thing.

Gender nonconformity.

The one that's the thread title.

The one that is in the bill.

The thing that you don't want to talk about.

You know, the thread topic.

Youre the one who is off topic. You have spewed post after post trying to tell me that that it wasn't misinformation when it is and have ignored the topic, which I have addressed in several of my posts and replies. I think a few moms of tomboys or others who are caught up in this getting a written letter (because that is all that is required of an agent) is a small price to pay to keep parents in the loop of what's going on with their child. If a teacher wrote me saying your daughter likes science so she is gender non-conforming then I would have a meeting with my child's school but that would not change the fact the other more serious letters will and should be sent.

Exactly. It's better for a parent to get a call telling them their daughter is a tomboy (which they would already know anyway) instead of the teacher making the executive decision to get in that girl's ear telling them they're really a boy because they like "boy things".

This way at least the parents will know that their daughter's behavior is being scrutinized by that teacher so they can sit them down and say "hey, your teacher might be telling you 'such and such' but we just want you to know, it's ok for a girl to like toy trucks and baggy clothes, it doesn't mean you're a boy"

This has more to do with children being given drugs or having medical procedures WITHOUT parental knowledge or consent. It's not about playing with a kitchen set. There's a definite push to let children make long lasting health choices and not say anything to their parents.

In a religious school, who is a government agent? The bill requires government agents to notify parents. Did you read the bill? It’s 5 pages.

The point is that children can/will be stigmatized with things they may grow out. It is still state wide and still affects people's overall POV on the subject. I know you want to be technical, but just because they aren't technically mandated to report children doesnt mean it cant/wont be used as justification for causing unnecessary trouble in kids lives who may not be girly girls or manly boys, especially in a religious setting. But you knew what I was saying you just wanted to be a smart a-s-s I guess, miss me.

The first bolded is the reason for the Bill.
Did you read the bill?
The second bolded... This "trouble" you think will be caused is a letter. The only requirement for a agent who sees gender non conformity in a minor is to write a letter.

It's weird that Republicans would want to do this. For what, exactly? So the parents can go get the kid some hormones?

I was a tomboy growing up, so you mean to tell me my father would have gotten a call at work because I challenged all the boys to a footrace (and won!). He would have cursed out every single person who "complied" and tried and enforce whatever this law is. Really pathetic.
I can’t imagine what I would have been if I was born in 2021. Because I like to roughhouse and play with trucks that means the state needs to notify my parents? Gender essentialism is stupid.

I don’t agree with kids transitioning so don’t come at me with this shit

This is dumb and regressive af and I say that as someone who is against transgenderism.

I used to be obsessed with Bratz dolls AND played soccer in middle school. Nothing wrong with being “gender non-conforming”.

I’ve seen threads on twitter where (usually younger) teachers would gloat and be patted on the back and praised for not alerting parents that a student had chosen a new name and pronouns but they would intentionally not tell the parents because they knew it didn’t align with their values at home. The teacher would actively participate (with encouragement) in lying to their parents about their behavior in school for the kid’s “safety”

This makes me nervous for children. Some parents don't take to well with their kids being "effeminate" boys or "tomboy" girls. If this is passed, I don't think it's going to end well.
