Aly Raisman Wants to Grill Dr. Larry Nassar in Prison
Aly Raisman is demanding she be allowed to question Dr. Larry Nassar while he is locked up in prison so she can get answers about who else knew about his xesual abuse on gymnasts.
Raisman sued the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), USA Gymnastics (USAG) over the repeated xesual abuse she suffered at the hands of Dr. Nassar. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to criminal xesual conduct and child pornography.
On October 11, Raisman filed court docs requesting permission to take the deposition of Dr. Nassar, who is currently incarcerated in the United States Penitentiary – Coleman II facility in Coleman, Florida.
According to documents, Raisman is seeking information about “where Nassar’s molests occurred, how many times, who knew about those molests, when those individuals learned about those molests.”
She says Nassar has not responded to the letter demanding his deposition. Aly Raisman believes he is without a lawyer at this time.
Recently, USA Gymnastics filed court docs responding to the legal battle, saying, “This case arises from despicable acts of criminal xesual abuse perpetrated by former physician and now-convicted felon Larry Nassar on Olympic gymnast, Alexandra Raisman.”
USAG says there is no question whether Nassar inflicted physical and emotional pain on Raisman and describe her as having” tremendous strength and courage” in response to Nassar’s actions.
However, USAG argues California law is very clear that only the perpetrator can be held liable for xesual harassment claims. They claim Raisman failed to point out any specific evidence the USAG officials had prior knowledge of Nassar’s abuse.
USAG says, “Ignorance without a reason to be suspicious is not a legal basis for ratification.”
They have demanded all claims against them be dismissed.
The case is ongoing.
