Father shoots dead his 11-year-old terminally ill daughter before turning the gun on himself in murder suicide while his wife was cooking breakfast
  • The father, who was in his 40s but has not been named, allegedly shot dead his 11-year-old daughter at their home in Davie, Florida, on Monday
  • He then turned the gun on himself and was taken to a hospital where he died
  • The girl's mother was cooking breakfast when she heard the gunshots ring out
  • Police said the murder-suicide may have been motivated by the fact that the daughter suffered from a debilitating terminal illness
A father fatally shot his terminally ill 11-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself in a shocking murder-suicide in Florida.

The man, who was in his 40s but has not yet been named, allegedly opened fire on his daughter at their home in Davie at about 9am Monday before shooting himself.

The girl's mother was preparing breakfast when she heard the gunshots and ran over to find both her daughter and husband with bullet wounds.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene while the man was transported to Broward County Medical Center, where he also died.

Investigators are seen outside the family's home in Davie after the killings. Authorities said the girl's mother heard gunshots in another room and found her daughter and husband shot

Davie police spokesman Lt Mark Leone confirmed the incident and said it was being investigated as a murder suicide.

'While we were speaking to the mother, we were told that the child has a debilitating, terminal illness, which is a possibility for why this tragic incident occurred,' Leone told Local 10.

Investigators were seen putting up crime scene tape outside the home in the 14600 block of Southwest 18th Court after the killings.

Authorities have not released the names of the deceased pending notification of family members.

This is a developing story.

This is incredibly sad.

Be careful who you start a family with. SMDH

And I don't mean to say that there's something the wife should've done to control the situation. I don't know the pain of a parent losing a child and
I pray to never know that pain.

Damn. I don't mean to Monday morning quarterback but whyyyyy? Why do that to the mom? I'm sure she was going through more than enough being that her baby was terminal. So many questions!
Either way rest in peace to that poor baby.

This is sad.

Maybe the dad wanted to withdraw care, and the mom wanted to be one of those Facebook warrior moms prolonging the daughter’s suffering. You often see that.

I can't imagine it. This is so sad why take her? If you can't bear to see her struggle to live I get it but why not only shoot yourself, why take her with you.

Then he should have just killed himself if he didn’t want to deal with it.

Maybe the pandemic made him lose his job and they could not afford care anymore or would lose their house or something.

Maybe the illness prolonged her pain and suffering. That would make it a mercy killing.

Dang...the mother was in the other kitchen cooking breakfast :bulgyeyes He must have moved fast in order to shoot her and then turn the gun on himself before the wife got to them/him.

OAN: That's a nice house.

I'm honestly conflicted on how to feel. I don't know what he was feeling to do that, I'm conflicted because he spared his wife's life, but she will forever be devastated.

This is why euthanasia should be legal in more states. I know it gets complicated with insurance policies and everything but if I can sign a "do not resuscitate" then that euthanasia should be an option. I've seen people suffer from Cancer and other sicknesses.

He probably felt he made the right decision and wanted to spare his wife to make it.

He's a murderer. You ain't helping nobody by doing that to the mother. And he made sure to kill himself so he wouldn't have to face her. Coward.

It wasn't his decision to take her life..... That was her decision (another reason why euthanasia should be legal) and just the universe's decision.... I know she's terminally ill and probably was on borrowed time, he may have felt he was doing her a favor but shooting? That seems really heartless to me for the daughters and moms sake who has to go back to see the mess... I feel sorry for the mother, i know she didn't expect her child to leave this earth the way she did :(

This breaks my heart. This is why I support legalizing lethal euthanasia for the terminally ill because who wants to watch their loved ones wither away??

I just assumed his daughter was in some kind of pain, as I would expect from a terminal illness. Duh.
Still doesn’t justify him taking her life. The mother obviously still wanted her. Duh.

I am sorry she lost her child and her husband. It is incredibly hard watching someone suffer and die slowly. She must have been in unimaginable pain, and he clearly declined mentally into hopelessness and depression. He probably thought he was protecting his wife in some way. He wasn’t thinking rationally.

Wish there were better resources and support for families during these times.

I agree but for them not for us. It’s a lot worse going through it.

After watching my loved ones die slow painful deaths I can not judge this. Doctor assisted suicide will forever have my support but this?...... Watching someone you love in pain for months and lose function is something i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy it will drive you crazy and turn the world dark. That said this wasn't just his choice to make, that poor mother, he was obviously going through depression and metal health issues. Just so horribly sad.

  • Loved ones have described Angela as a happy, active little girl who was adored by her parents and loved to dance and practice martial arts

The 11-year-old girl who was shot dead by her father before he turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide has been identified.

Loved ones have described Angela Ng as a happy, active little girl who was adored by her parents and loved to dance and practice martial arts.

The family's world was turned upside down when Angela became terminally ill from cancer in her femur, according to relatives, friends and neighbors.

Angela's life came to a devastating end on Monday when her father, Kenbian Ng, fatally shot her before killing himself at the family's home in Davie, Florida.

The girl's mother was cooking breakfast when she heard the gunfire ring out and ran in to find both her daughter and husband shot.

Davie police spokesman Lt Mark Leone confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

'While we were speaking to the mother, we were told that the child has a debilitating, terminal illness, which is a possibility for why this tragic incident occurred,' Leone said.

'It was a devastating terminal illness. She was not going to get any better. It is such a tragic situation, a terrible situation.'

The Broward Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday confirmed that the victims were Angela and Kenbian.

Angela's happy childhood was captured in dozens of photos posted on social media by her proud parents.

Many of the photos showed the family on vacations around the world while others showed Angela receiving a diploma for martial arts and being kissed by a dolphin.

Everything changed when she was diagnosed with cancer and began undergoing chemotherapy as her health declined rapidly.

Relatives said Angela was scheduled to have her leg amputated on August 28, less than three weeks after she was killed.

Miriam Casanova, whose husband Jorge is the cousin of Angela's mother, described the devastating toll the girl's illness took on her parents in an interview with the Sun Sentinel.

Casanova said she and her husband had been wanting to call and check in on the family but found it difficult to find the words to console Angela's parents.

Recounting the last time she spoke to Angela's father a few months ago, she said: 'He couldn't talk. He just cried.'

Kenbian's LinkedIn profile shows he worked as a VP of Operations at Watsco, a distributor of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment based in Miami.

It remains unclear what led Kenbian to take his daughter's life and his own. Lt Leone said that the mother was absolutely stunned and devastated by the horrific act.

Witnesses outside the home on Monday described hearing the mother wailing as police arrived.

'I heard the mother come right through my yard. They picked her up, put her in the car, and she screamed a noise like I knew I've heard before,' neighbor Charlene Wells told WSVN.

'She was very upset. Being the mother of a child that was killed in a car accident and how painful it is, I can imagine what they're going through now. It's awful. I feel bad for her. I really do.'

Neighbors Thelma and George Napolitano, who have known the Ng family since Angela was a baby, said they never could have seen this coming.

'To lose your husband and your child, terrible,' Thelma told WSVN.

The Napolitanos said Angela's mother recently told them that the little girl was very sick.

'She said something happened to Angela. She's in the hospital, and I don't know when she's coming home,' Thelma recalled.

'It's been a terrible shock,' George said of the double shooting.

He said Kenbian was 'a gentleman' who would always check on his neighbors to make sure they were okay when bad weather swept through the area.

Investigators are seen outside the family's home in Davie on Monday afternoon. A police spokesman confirmed that the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide

The murder-suicide was especially shocking given that its very rare for such acts to involve a caregiver.

'It's almost like a lightning strike,' Scott Eliason, a psychologist at the Idaho Department of Corrections, told the Sun Sentinel.

'Usually these things are impossible to predict and even if someone has every possible risk factor you can think of for violence or suicide, in the vast majority of cases, they don't do this.'

Eliason said when murder-suicides involving caregivers do occur, it's often because the perpetrator is worn out and depressed.

'Sometimes you get what's called caregiver burnout where you have a caregiver taking care of a terminally ill person and that stress leads to some kind of depression,' he said.

'They're worried about abandoning the person, so that's where the murder comes in.'

Lt Leone said the case is still being actively investigated. Dozens of officials remained at the crime scene for hours after Angela's body was removed from the home.

So they were going to amputate the girl's leg to attempt to remove the cancer?! He couldn't even allow her the chance at potentially beating it? This little girl was probably so terrified and confused in her last moments. fµck the dad. fµck him!
