I was in the hisurtism thread and someone mentioned how products that disrupt hormone balance make it worst. I am wondering if any of you ladies have any recommendations wether it be body care products, facial, hair or makeup. Perfumes maybe?
I don’t have hisurtism but I have PCOS and figured this may help. Thank you.

honestly, switching over to non toxic beauty products is not likely to help at all with your PCOS. it's better to focus on your diet and supplements instead.

Like the person above said, switching to non toxic products will not get rid of hirsutism. However you should be using beauty products without parabens and phthalates. Look at the back label it usually tells you if the product is free of the bad stuff. Nowadays it’s so easy to find non toxic products. I like Native body wash, I use Cera ve face wash and face lotion, tgin and Camille rose natural are natural hair brands formulated without parabens and phthalates. For makeup I use elf and too faced. For perfume you can look on the Sephora website and it will tell you if the product is free of all the bad sh!t

OP, hormone balance issues cannot be addressed by products which you use externally like makeup or perfume. Although they sometimes manifest themselves externally in the form of acne or hirsutism, hormone imbalances happen inside your body so to alter that, people usually make dietary changes or take certain supplements or medication to regulate them.

I also have hormone balance issues (not PCOS though) and I take certain supplements which help regulate them, but I'd caution against just taking anything recommended by random people online because all hormone imbalance issues aren't the same. Sometimes it depends on the specific kind of deficiencies or imbalances you have. Perhaps ask your GYN for recommendations of the kinds of supplements for people with PCOS.

I'm not sure why you got down voted or why people act as if you don't know what you're talking about. You're talking about Xenoestrogens. There is a way to control how they affect your body. Here's a good article on different types of estrogen and how they affect the body, and how to rid the body of toxins.

  • Xenoestrogens or endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), which are environmental toxins that act like estrogen.
Tip: The estrogen in birth control (ethinylestradiol) is a Xenoestrogens.

Impaired estrogen metabolism or detoxification

All estrogens (including xenoestrogens) must be detoxified in a two-step process through the liver and bowel.

Step 1 happens in the liver and requires B-vitamins, selenium, and the amino acid glycine. This step of estrogen metabolism can be impaired by xenoestrogens and alcohol, which is why alcohol causes higher blood levels of estrogen and increases the risk of breast cancer.

Step 2 happens in the bowel, where conjugated estrogens are escorted out of the body. In the presence of healthy gut bacteria, conjugated estrogens leave the body. In the presence of unhealthy bacteria, conjugated estrogens are de-conjugated and reactivated by the enzyme beta-glucuronidase. Reactivated estrogens can then be reabsorbed in a process called enterohepatic recirculation or “gut-liver recirculation.” The result is estrogen excess.

OP I study herbs, vitamins, natural healing, and the reproductive system. I highly recommend that you do your own research. Doctor's have very little interest in treating women hormonal problems, especially Black women. Dr. Briden has a good guide on PCOS and how to get natural relief. I highly recommend her.

Thank you! And yes doctor’s do not take hormone issues seriously when they affect us so much. If you’re a black woman it’s even worst. I will check out your recommendations, thanks again.
