Did you finish his podcasts?Reading Ryan Douglass’ book after he exposed the messy YA community.
I’m not that far in but I like it. I’ll post a review here if I remember lolHow is it? I have it on my kindle I just haven't gotten around to it.
Yup. LL McKinney is trash but we knew that. I have definitely seen how these black people in the faux hierarchy use their positions to send attack dogs. They hide behind those woke acts they haven't evolved from like he mentioned to bully and maintain their tokenismDid you finish his podcasts?
Yep we been knew LL was trash. And what have any of these folks done for the community outside of donating some books? They write for kids but don't even have launch events with activities for them.I’m not that far in but I like it. I’ll post a review here if I remember lol

What did he say? I can’t believe I missed it.Reading Ryan Douglass’ book after he exposed the messy YA community.
It's a series of podcasts on PatreonWhat did he say? I can’t believe I missed it.
I didn’t even finish the book. I guess I get the hype but it wasn’t for me.Trying to read It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover but I'm not feeling the story. I hate love triangles and I'm assuming Atlas comes back. How Lily didn't notice that glaring red flag in the beginning with the doctor, I'll never know.

It was a good listenThanks! I’m about to join so I can listen.
It really was! I knew something was wrong with that clique. It was a good listen
I don't blame you. The book isn't for me either. I may give her other books a try but I doubt it.I didn’t even finish the book. I guess I get the hype but it wasn’t for me.
I listened and it was another good talk. Especially what he said about people holding on to the oreo thing that isn't present in Black adulthood.I feel this so much
It was a good bookI hate when my books expire and I have to wait months to finish. Either that or buy it
Will finish this one today though. It sounded messy so I couldn’t resist
10000 percent agree! The HBO adaptation of Native Son was diabolical and they should’ve just said it was inspired or a retelling.
Girl so am I! I still like her books thoughView attachment 3896398
I'm shocked they're both black
Bradley Graeme is pretty much perfect. He's a star football player, manages his OCD well (enough), and comes out on top in all his classes . . . except the ones he shares with his ex-best friend, Celine.
Celine Bangura is conspiracy-theory-obsessed. Social media followers eat up her takes on everything from UFOs to holiday overconsumption--yet, she's still not cool enough for the popular kids' table. Which is why Brad abandoned her for the in-crowd years ago. (At least, that's how Celine sees it.)
These days, there's nothing between them other than petty insults and academic rivalry. So when Celine signs up for a survival course in the woods, she's surprised to find Brad right beside her.
Forced to work as a team for the chance to win a grand prize, these two teens must trudge through not just mud and dirt but their messy past. And as this adventure brings them closer together, they begin to remember the good bits of their history. But has too much time passed . . . or just enough to spark a whole new kind of relationship?

Because Black YA romance is trendy right now and they offered her a hig check. Before she was saying she doesn't write Blsck romance because as someone who only dated IR she can't write what she doesn't know.View attachment 3896398

Any reason why? This is interesting!Reading nonfiction only in 2023
Same.I have a TBR list miles long and I’m still buying new books and not reading the ones I have. What’s wrong with me
Saw this on twitter and IKYFL now I see WHY yall call this a white gaze book
I understand it's harder to get published with an all Black cast but if more Black authors stood their ground and pushed for stories with all Black casts it would be easierI speaking specifically to genre fictions writers but broadly I want Black writers to know that it is ok to write fiction with exclusively Black main characters or entire Black cast. As I've gotten older and gained more life experience I crave genre fiction that centers Black stories with no non-Black characters clogging up page time. I want to read horror crime and sff that is about black people and no one else.
Idk why this forum section doesn't have a random thoughts thread...
Barnes and Noble is talking about 50% blowout sale like their books aren't marked up to like $30. So basically we can buy books for regular price for a few days. Oh.
