Everyone's fro seems to expand when they go outside, but my hair shrinks. It doesn't even make sense to stretch it at this point.

Anyways I did a wash n' go w/ the alikays lemongrass gel & the adowa leave in. It was just okay. The results gave me a defined fluffy fro

Im noticing all my favorite styler gels seem to be xantum gum based. I also get significantly better WnG results when it detangle w/ a comb vs a brush

Did anyone know Shea Moisture brought the porosity lines back? I’m assuming the formulas are different
Too little, too late. I feel like they took those off the market right when people really started being interested in porosity.

I wonder what Shea Moisture's sales trends are looking like since they sold out. Mane Choice too. I know the hype around natural hair products is not the same as before, when all the girlies were doing reviews.

I'm kinda nostalgic for when everybody was putting out a new collection quarterly. Mane Choice was like the Usain Bolt of black haircare when they had that little run starting with the Egyptian line, through Fro the Culture, the Tropical Moringa with the Braidout Glaze (!!!!!), and then the Cheers line with the Gelato. They could not be stopped! Courtney even had Cantu scrambling, trying to keep up.

Now there's no innovation in formulas. I can't think of anything new that's really creative and distinctive like Braidout glaze, Cheers gelato, camille rose honey hydrate, Kriya mango twist cream, or Hydra curlformer.

The black woman owned haircare renaissance was fun while it lasted!

Loctitians. Please. WEAR GLOVES WHEN WASHING PEOPLES HAIR!!!
Not sure why you posted this in all caps. I am a retired hairdresser... When I shampooed clients, if I wore gloves (to apply chemicals) I took them off at the shampoo bowl. I can't feel if the hair is completely clean thru gloves. I can't feel if the scalp is completely clean thru gloves. I can't feel if the (wet) hair is damaged thru gloves. I use my eyes, nose, and hands to analyze hair and scalp.

I completely understand but I keep seeing videos of hairdressers washing hair that has been neglected for a long time with so much build up. I think it’s unsanitary to directly touch the hair until it’s been soaked for a while in the bowl or a first wash with gloves and then maybe one without. You don’t know what’s on the persons scalp and you’re scrubbing the scalp. Could possibly have micro cuts on your fingers.

Any tips on how to strengthen hair after braids thinned it out and broke some edges? It's a small set back but I'm dealing w/ it. #neveragain

I think I'm gonna start taking care of my hair y'all. Lol! I haven't even cut/trimmed it this year, but managed to retain length to the waist. I might actually try for tailbone length so it'll look longer while curly, but it's never been that long before. Y'all have tips?

Im gonna start doing braid outs again.
I miss the volume.

It's almost time to schedule another trim. I'm gonna ask my stylist to give me a more rounded shape.

Last time she just trim my natural layers. This time after the trim I want her to shape to look more like this

I'm late, but I tried the TPH scalp scrub for the first time today. I will NEVER use this product again. I followed the directions to a t and shampooed my hair 3 times so far to get this stuff out of my hair. I still have white balls/flakes in my hair.

I made the most amazing diy post-henndigo rinse out thingy!!!! Omg.

I don't like to DC post henndigo because I don't want to mess up the color, but also didn't want dry hair over the next 3-5 days.

Made a mix of okra powder, ambunu, honey, shea butter and castor oil and baby!!! Let me tell you!!! Hair like buttah. Buttah, I tell ya.

The only caveat is I shoulda used more essential oils. I hate the smell of shea butter. lol Next time I'm-a use cocoa butter.

Ufd is just not that gurl.
Honestly, she's really not. I did a braidout yesterday w/ UFD and LottaBody. Took it down today and lawwwwd the flakes! :scream: I couldn't even leave the house. It's been months since I tried UFD but it happened the last time, too. I'm pissed that I have to wash my hair again.

Came across a woman on YT ranting that you can't use shea butter in locs because of build up. Not if you wash that sht. Stop behaving like a yt.

When Shea Moisture first released the JBCO line my hair didn’t care for it much at all. Plus I may have not been using the products in the best way.

However, I recently purchased some products from that line and again and I am thrilled! My hair seems to be taking very well to it! I’m glad I gave it another chance and I’ll be purchasing more soon. I’ve been using nothing but JBCO & aloe vera based products in my hair and I love it so far! I don’t want to speak too soon but the SM JBCO line may just be holy grail!

Picked up shea moisture's reformulated high porosity masque from Marshall's. The only mask I've ever tried from the brand was the deep treatment masque which I preferred as a leave-in.

I know sheamoisture is not that girl. I just want to see if this masque is gonna give what I need it to give.

I loved the OG Hi-Po masque. Haven't seen the newer in my Marshall's yet.

I was suppose to get my hair pressed and trimmed this weekend, but with the storm I cancelled it. I am going to be pissed if I haven't retained any length.

I did two feed in braids and I’m mad I didn’t try before. It seemed way harder but once I got a technique down, it was kinda easy. Definitely something I will do again for practice.

The braids aren’t as big as the examples I watched, but I couldn’t grip the bigger pieces without getting mixed up.

My hair for the past 2 weeks has been crunchy af. I did my hair a couple of hours ago and some strands are crunchy. Must be the new shampoo I got. Oh it strengthened alright. The Shea moisture conditioner didn't do jack.

i don't know how braiding is starting to click for me. i was able to do box braids on someone else without the rubberband method. now they don't look amazing and i still can't grip but it's not bad, it's not awful at all. using that jam does help a little bit.

i can't believe i'm coming to the end of my stash! not including powders/butters i have 2 under the bed storage bags and 1 bin. that's pretty much it! i'm going to buy some guar tomorrow because i misplaced my guar and i found some old diy henna mixes that i started but never finished i'm going to need to use those up.

i'm probably going to place a smaller order this black friday ish for some rinse out conditioners to last me through the new year and hopefully by the end of next year i'll be done with the vast majority of this stash. which is about on track with how long i thought it would take me getting through 100+ products a year.

i don't know how long it will take me to use up all these powders and butters but they don't really expire so i'm not pressed.

i wonder if i'll build my stash back up or just let it fade out and keep a couple staples or go full diy and just make my stuff.. time will tell i guess

Does anybody have a moisturizing regimen that they do for the winter times? Summer is much better for me but when it starts to get cold, it's like I have to try completely new things. I just did my hair yesterday and left it under a Cap for about 5 hours and....nothing. it's as if I haven't moisturized in weeks

So a little birdie told me that OLAPLEX is causing hair thinning. There is a Facebook group for it as well. I wonder if all these natural hair "gurus" who have been promoting it know that.

I want to try Marley twists, but each time I try to twist them with the marley hair, my hair keeps falling out of the twists at the scalp.

Any tips?

Here is a good video, the technique I use starts around 6:30, but I skipped around and it’s other useful info.
